For Practice Puropses: Do not place barrels on barrel stakes.

Why?
In short, it digs out the ground around the barrels causing footing problems.
By moving away from the stakes, you help preserve the ground around them.
With rain headed our way, these tracks around the barrel stakes will be the first place to hold water and will become the wettest parts of the arena. If there's any hope that we will be able to have a playday Friday night. We need these areas to be dry. (The ground was great at 8pm last night, & the weather man has been wrong all week) 🤞
What can you do differently?
Set up the barrels closer to the alley way, or farter towards the roping chute. Another option, set them up backwards if your not utalizing the alleyway.
The more you know:
Setting the barrrels in the exact same spot every time creates anticipation in our horses. Setting them up differently keeps our horses sharp and listening to our signals.
Also as a courtesy to every clubs beloved tractor drivers, remove your barrels or poles when your done. They do so much for us, they don't need to have to clear the arena before they start working on the dirt.
