Starting to go back the other way

Its buffed. Going to rip the old carpet out tomorrow so I can clean the floorboard for some bed liner. Then I'll hang the doors back on and polish it all out. Then the interior will be ready to start going back. Along with class and all the trim. Then onto getting everything else ready to go back on it.

Meant to post this last night but I went in showered and crashed. Getting closer to buffing. Hopefully I'll get it ready this evening and start buffing tomorrow after work.

Stole this from another post. Great read and explanation.

I think at times there’s a huge misconception how many hours it takes for a shop like mine to what we do!

strip a car to bare metal/do metal work/seal it/block it out/do body work/high build prime/ block/ fix anything/ maybe reprime and block again/ seal/ paint/clear/wetsand/ buff/polish/ take apart and put back together…… I’m easily 350-550 hours if it goes on rotisserie could be more if it has a lot of metal work could be more there are so many variables we don’t just scuff these cars up and throw paint on them! And I’ve got years of books with hours it took us on vehicles and what the vehicle was etc and Ive talked to numerous friends and people from all over about the time it takes and we are all in the same times…

When I say block I’m not talking one time around it body work we blocking 80/180 after prime we are going 180/320/600 thoroughly

When i say wet sand we are going from 800/1000/1500/2000/3000/4000 and sometimes esp the corvettes 5000 with a block thoroughly

When we buff its multiple steps we usually do step 1 and 2 buffing then switch to polish use 2 steps with it also

Then you have materials…
The amount of sand paper to go through all the steps is a good amount atleast a box of each grit

Sealer is a gallon
Primer is minimum 2 gallons
Sealer before paint 1/2 gallon
Paint is minimum 1 gallon
Clear is minimum 1 gallon
Buffing compounds
Buffing pads
Tape
Paper
Fillers

Plus some miscellaneous items
Rollocks
Grinder wheels
Cut off wheels
Welding wire
Welding gas
Metal
Etc etc

Materials can easily be 4k-10k

Then u have a building and all the over head electric/heat/water/insurances

Hopefully this helps give people an idea of what it takes and better perspective on what shops like mine actually do!
