The Franklin Institute says it’s more of a myth that wanted the turkey as a symbol of the United States. The confusion comes from a letter he wrote to his daughter criticizing the eagle and saying the turkey was more respectable. (They happen to make great inspiration for chainsaw carvings too!)

Now that everyone is home and settled back into routine or moving on to the next caving event or challenge, I just want to give a huge shout out to everyone who took part in the 2026 Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous. 25 years of the best: the best sponsors, the best carvers, the best vendors, the best musicians, the best grounds crew, the best volunteers and the best crowd ever! Can’t say enough heartfelt “thank-yous” to everyone who took part in helping to promote our carving community and our hometown of Ridgway, PA. The atmosphere, as usual, was magic!

For our April Family Story Time, we're hitting the road and heading to our *favorite* annual event -- the Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous! 🌲

Join us Saturday, April 25th at 11 AM for a Story Time with RPL's Miss Tia, featuring a special guest -- Zoe Dussia, chainsaw carving artist extraordinaire and one of the event creators. We'll meet at the covered stage near the entrance to enjoy a story, a demonstration from Zoe, and a wood slice ornament craft.

Please remember: admission to the Rendezvous is free for kids, $5 for adults. Help support our local artists and make this year's Rendezvous one of the best ones yet!

Family Story Times are held once monthly for kids ages birth through 10 and their families. Featuring a longer Story Time and a bigger activity or craft, Family Story Time is a great way to spend time together as a family — reading, creating, and getting to know your local library.
