Harmony Celebration Chorus is celebrating the lives and legacy of two members who have recently passed away, Edie Murphy and Margaret Robinson.

Margaret was a member of the chorus when we were Ramapo Valley under the direction of Renee Craig. She sang from 1993-2005 as part of the baritone section. She loved singing for Renee and brought her daughter Stephanie with her, who continues to be an active member of our chorus. Margaret was a ray of sunshine who continued to cheer for the chorus from near and far since her retirement.

Edie Murphy was a legendary bass singer. She joined Ramapo Valley soon after its charter in the mid-sixties and was one of those singers Renee loved to rely on for that rich bass sound. Edie was oh so close to being a quartet Queen of Harmony, earning a 2nd place silver medal with The Priorities. Edie was an active member of our chorus up until the COVID break, whereupon she became an emeritus member. She was fiercely competitive and loved singing bass smack in the middle of the chorus for many, many years. She equally loved attending afterglows and singing into the wee hours at any opportunity. When others called it a night, Edie could be heard saying, “I need to find younger friends.”

We are grateful to have shared the risers with both Edie and Margaret. Their legacy of singing and harmony lives on through all of us.

It is with great pride and appreciation that we recognize CJ DeMarco as Harmony Celebration Chorus’ 2026 Member of Note!

CJ DeMarco joined HCC in May 2021 and has become an integral part of our HCC family. Singing baritone in the front row, she brings both strength and joy to every performance.

Soon after joining HCC, she began looking for ways to contribute her talents and support the organization. As Marketing Coordinator, she helped raise the chorus’s visibility while creating meaningful connections within the singing community. Her creativity and thoughtful approach have left a lasting mark on the role.

When CJ became HCC’s Team Coordinator in 2025, it was a reflection of the trust and respect she had earned. She leads with a steady hand, an open heart, and a genuine desire to help our chorus succeed. She continues to guide the chorus forward while encouraging members to be their best. Her service also extends beyond HCC through her work on the newly formed Key Connections committee to help foster an inclusive and welcoming
environment throughout Region 15.

Helping others has been a common thread throughout CJ’s life. She started as an elementary school teacher, then found her calling in counseling and mental health. Now a Licensed Professional Counselor, trauma specialist, and supervisor for teachers supporting growth, healing, and resilience. As the founder of Bodhi Counseling & Wellness, she continues that mission every day, guiding individuals through challenges. Additionally, family is everything to CJ; she has five children and seven grandchildren.

Whether she is mentoring a fellow member, leading a team, or lighting up the front row, CJ embodies the spirit of Harmony Celebration Chorus through her kindness, service, and unwavering dedication to others.

We love you, CJ!

Nothing says summer like sunshine, laughter, good food, and spending time with some of our favorite people! 💙💜

Our chorus pool party was the perfect chance to relax, reconnect, and enjoy some well-deserved fun outside of rehearsal. From the pool to the conversations to the inevitable laughter, it was a reminder that Harmony Celebration Chorus is so much more than singing together, we’re a community. 🎶💕
