Last month, we wrapped up the 22nd year of the Leir Foundation Arts in Education program. We are extremely proud of this free, mission-driven program, complementing school curriculum with the power of live theater.

Highlights from the 25/26 school year include:
34 Free Arts in Education Performances/10 Free Virtual Performances
17,500+ Students Attended In-Person/200,000+ Virtual Views
8,000+ Free Books Distributed
2,600+ Students Hosted for a Pre-Show Lunch
56 Buses Covered

With over 60% of our audience coming from the low income communities in our region, we strive to create meaningful arts experiences for students who would not otherwise have this opportunity. Summer kicked off in style with an incredible lineup of performances—and our sponsors came through in a big way to help make them possible! A huge thank you to Nutmeg Livery Service for supporting The Australian Bee Gees and Demetri Martin. We're also grateful to M&T Bank for sponsoring the Sergio Mendes Band as part of our Community Engagement Program, and to South Salem Animal Hospital for their support of Story Pirates.

Our audiences also enjoyed some delicious tastings throughout the month. Foley Family Wines & Spirits made the Al Di Meola experience even more worth savoring, one sip at a time. Freixenet added a sparkling touch to the Sergio Mendes Band evening, while Vengeance Vodka helped raise the spirits at Fitz & the Tantrums.

Ridgefield Playhouse is thrilled to be a 2026 grant recipient from the Union Savings Bank Foundation for our mission-driven Arts in Education program. Jodi Simon Stewart, Arts in Education Director, accepted the grant on behalf of the Ridgefield Playhouse from Michele Bonvicini, Executive Director of the USB Foundation.

With the support from USB, the Ridgefield Playhouse partners with Title 1 teachers in our region to augment classroom curriculum with a meaningful arts education experience and introduces thousands of students to their first live show!
