Calling all talented musicians! As we all know, during challenging times, music can bring joy and connection. My son Austin, a violin student at the Ridgefield Suzuki School, recently posted this our town page:
Hi, my name is Austin and I am 9 years old. I live in Ridgefield and I play the violin. I am offering to come to your house and play Happy Birthday and a few other songs for anyone who has a birthday during the quarantine. (Playing would be outside at an acceptable distance, weather permitting.) I am doing this because I think music makes people happy and I want them to be happy even though they can't see their friends or have a birthday party. I, myself, had to hold off on my birthday celebration so I know how it feels.
The post got multiple requests to play. Recently, we started a page for people to post their own Happy Birthday video (https://www.facebook.com/Quarantine-Kidz-Birthday-Club-104280547894402/). We encourage children (and adults!) of all ages and levels to post their own videos and hopefully together we can bring some happiness to those Quarantined during their birthdays. (Videos already uploaded can be found under Community but please upload new videos to Groups.)
