Masquers Playhouse Welcome to the Masquers! We have been producing plays and musicals of the highest caliber in lovely Point Richmond, California since 1955.

Often described as a "Jewel Box," Masquers is indeed a treasure of the northeast Bay Area.

Meet Cassandra, the family’s eccentric cleaning woman, named after a mythical Greek prophetess; she is equal parts absurd seer, fiercely loyal guardian, and absolute chaos agent.
Equipped with a feather duster, a flair for the dramatic, and a terrifyingly accurate knack for foreseeing disaster, Cassandra spends her days mopping floors, cooking, and screaming about impending doom.
Does anyone believe her cryptic warnings? Of course not. That’s the tragedy of being a local oracle on an hourly wage. But while Vanya and Sonia are just trying to drink their morning coffee in peace, Cassandra is busy channeling the gods, sticking voodoo dolls with pins, and doing everything in her power to keep this dysfunctional family from completely unraveling.

The Envision committee of Masquers Playhouse is excited to announce auditions for our next show, THE TAMING OF THE SHREW.

This will be a staged reading, adapted and directed by Lindsey Abbott, managing director of Curtain Theatre, Mill Valley’s free Shakespeare in the park. This staged reading is a new collaboration with Curtain Theatre. Volunteer only, Non AEA/unpaid.

Auditions take place:
*WED August 19th In Richmond, CA.
*THU August 20 in Mill Valley, CA.

THE TAMING OF THE SHREW by William Shakespeare
What if the setting for Shakespeare’s courtship comedy took place in a reimagined Elizabethan England where society is controlled by women? Join us for a hilarious, high-spirited take on a classic. The language of the play will remain the same, but the gender of many roles will be reversed. Visit the audition page for a more detailed preview of what roles will be reversed.

Rehearsals & Performances
Rehearsals will be held September 28-30 and October 5-8, 7- 10 pm.
Performance Dates: October 9-11, 2026

Spotlight on Sophie Gabel-Scheinbaum

Sophie is thrilled to return to Masquers Playhouse, where her community theater journey began back in 2005 with RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL (Tina u/s). Favorite roles since then include LITTLE WOMEN (Amy March), THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE (Olive), and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE (The Chaperone). She feels so honored to be a part of this fantastic cast. Thanks and love always to Stephen, Mom, and Dad. Thank you for supporting live theater in your community!

Spotlight on Alicia von Kugelgen
Here she comes again! Most recently seen at Masquers as (Grace and several others) in IMPROBABLE FICTION, (Carol Strong) CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, and (Annie) CALENDAR GIRLS, she’s happy to be treading the boards here again. Alicia has made her way around the Bay Area making a fool of herself on stage whenever someone gives her the chance. Some of her favorites have been (Annie) CALENDAR GIRLS, (Dolly Levi) HELLO DOLLY, (Queen Aggravain) ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, (multiple roles) THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP, (Edith Potter and Mary Haines) THE WOMEN (two different productions, of course), (Rosalinda) DIE FLEDERMAUS, and (Mabel) PIRATES OF PENZANCE. Spotlight on Lisa Wang
Lisa is so thrilled to return to Masquers, especially in this wonderful play! She debuted at Masquers earlier this year with THE GODS OF COMEDY (Dean Trickett). Lisa is a company member at Berkeley Shakespeare Company, where previous productions have included: JULIUS CAESAR (Brutus), KING LEAR (Regan), and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Don John). Lisa is also a company member at BATS Improv in San Francisco, where you can catch her regularly performing improvised theatre www.improv.org. Heartfelt thanks to my family for their support. Huge thanks to Shay for entrusting me with this role!

Spotlight on Damion Clark

Damion is thrilled to return to Masquers Playhouse in this production of VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE. He last appeared at Masquers in THE 39 STEPS (Clown 2). Other Bay Area roles include( Stephen, the waiter from hell) SLOW FOOD, (Sagot) PICASSO AT LAPIN AGILE, and (Nate and Andrew) STANDING ON CEREMONY: THE GAY MARRIAGE PLAYS at Altarena, (Venticelli I) AMADEUS with The Other Other Theatre Company, (Schuppanzigh) BLACK COMEDY at Douglas Morrisson Theatre, and (Clown 2) THE 39 STEPS at Chanticleers, where he was a finalist for the Featured Performer TBA award.

Spotlight on Cheryl Games
Cheryl, a playwright, actress, and arts marketing professional, is so happy to be making her Masquers Playhouse debut in this fabulous play with this fabulous cast, director, and crew. Previous acting roles include THE BIRTHDAY PARTY (Meg), KING LEAR (Kent), BLOODY, BLOODY, ANDREW JACKSON (Storyteller), A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE (Beatrice), PICNIC (Flo), MACBETH (Lady Macbeth), DINNER WITH FRIENDS (Karen), BLITHE SPIRIT (Elvira), and CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION (Marty). She holds an M.F.A. from the Actors Studio Drama Program/New School University and an M.B.A. from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), and a board member for ANDTheatre Company in New York. Cheryl and her husband, David, live in San Francisco with their roommates, Astro and Cocoa.
