Don't miss THE MEETING, presented by the Department of Theatre & Dance!

Directed by Professor Chuck Mike, THE MEETING is a gripping play of ideas, laced with compassion, emotional verve and patches of stark humor. It is a brilliant testimony and tribute to the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, two giants of American civil rights history ... and so relevant that it is hard to believe it was not written this year.

Arrive one hour before showtime (6:30 p.m. for evening shows, 1 p.m. for matinees) to view the exhibition and experience the preshow activity in the Modlin Center lobby and courtyard.

Showtimes: Thursday, 11/20-Saturday, 11/22, at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, 11/23, at 2 p.m.

Location: Alice Jepson Theatre, Modlin Center for the Arts

The Department of Theatre & Dance's final production of the year, URINETOWN, runs next week in the Alice Jepson Theatre. Winner of three Tony Awards, URINETOWN is a hilarious musical satire: a terrible water shortage has led to a government ban on private toilets and citizens have to use paid public toilets, owned by a single malevolent company. In this wickedly funny and delightfully intelligent comedic romp, URINETOWN is an irreverent tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution at a time when water is worth its weight in gold.

URINETOWN was written and composed by Mark Hollmann & Greg Kotis and is directed by UR Professor Dorothy Holland. Performances are Thurs 4/17 - Sat 4/19 at 7:30pm, and Sunday 4/20 at 2pm. Reserve your free tickets here: https://modlin.richmond.edu/events/index.html

The Department of Theatre & Dance presents THE WOMAN IN BLACK!

Adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from the book by Susan Hill, this laboratory production is directed by senior Benjamin Cudmore and features the design and acting work of UR students, led by lighting & sound professor Maja E. White.

While attending the funeral of an elderly recluse, attorney Arthur Kipps encounters the woman in black that terrifies the town of Crythin Gifford. Years later, haunted by this experience, he engages an actor to help him tell the story and “exorcise” his past. Set in an abandoned Victorian theater, they reenact a series of chilling events to provide a more vivid account for his eventual audience.

Performances are February 6-8 at 7:30pm and February 9 at 2pm in the Modlin Center's Cousins Studio Theatre. All performances are FREE!

Contact the Modlin Box Office at [email protected] or (804) 289-8980 for ticket information. There will be a standby line for all performances. Don't miss your chance to see this show!
