The Ealey Project is uncovering the rich history of Jackson Ward through a remarkable discovery: 230,000 documents belonging to civil rights leader Roland J. "Duke" Ealey, found in a basement after decades hidden away πŸ“œ

VCU is partnering with The Ealey Project to preserve this collection and amplify the stories of this historic Black neighborhood. Through student internships, research collaborations, and community engagement, this work is bringing new insights into 20th-century history.

πŸ›οΈ Catch a pop-up exhibit featuring documents from the landmark Brown v. Board of Education case at the Black History Museum & Cultural Center through August 29.

Jackson Ward's history matters. Its stories matter. And The Ealey Project is making sure they're preserved for future generations.
