We are absolutely devastated to share the passing of our sweet Julia. Company member, dancer, choreographer, teacher, and most importantly, friend, Julia was a cherished member of our dance family and we are heartbroken to have lost her. It feels impossible to put into words just how incredible she was, but if you had the privilege of spending any amount of time with her, you already know. She was the most beautiful dancer, oftentimes taking your breath away and always leaving you in awe. She was a gifted choreographer, offering her unique perspective through visceral, soul-baring, boundary pushing art. But most of all, she was the best human, kind, caring, supportive, generous, constant, ambitious, creative, funny, smart, passionate, inspired, inspiring, and on and on and on and on. Julia was so special and so loved by so many. She made a profound impact on our company and the entire Richmond dance community. We miss her every day and don’t quite know what the future looks like without her, but one thing is certain, she’d want us to keep dancing and connecting and making art. So we’ll do our best, always with her in our hearts. We love you Julia. 🤍

We are beyond pumped to partner with on her solo exhibition, “Color Block” at this fall! Her show opens tonight and runs through October 19, and we’ll be presenting two original dance works inspired by and in the midst of her exhibition the evening of October 17. More details to come, but for now head to tonight for the opening reception starting at 5:30pm and check out her incredible art!

I am excited to announce my solo exhibition “Color Block” curated by , opening at on September 5 in Richmond, Virginia. ✨

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond presents an exhibition of work by Visiting Artist-in-Residence, Eleanor Anderson, curated by . “Color Block” exemplifies Anderson’s intuitive processes and material explorations, presenting recent fused glass panels alongside her ongoing series of mixed-media textile tapestries rich with color, texture, and compositional nuance. Wandering within and between these disciplinary genres, Anderson gathers seemingly disparate objects and forms, responding to their disjointedness and fractures through acts of connection—sewing, knotting, fusing, or building with lattices and lines. Together, these works both revere and challenge conventions of art-making, celebrating its often-overlooked spirit of play and collaboration to emphasize the need for unity and joy in our increasingly polarized world.
