Today marks the beginning of planting season man I can't tell you how excited I am about that. How awesome it will be to have my garden back to life instead of its dormant stage. It's good for the emotional health and the mental health gardening. It's where it's at!

Yesterday was that rare, perfect Chicago day—a sunny gem in a week of gray. Despite the 21° chill (felt like 15!), I walked a full 5 miles through downtown—soaking up the massive, beautiful sunlight and rediscovering the architecture. Walking felt good, and today, Chicago showed off.

First night in Chicago after the conference ended and I did what any totally-normal human would do…
I went full solo explorer mode. 😄

Yesterday: a casual five-mile stroll to Navy Pier and back.

Last night: I was briefly humbled by the agonizing pain of being old, popped a couple Advil (lol), then immediately proceeded to walk another five miles like that never happened. 💀🚶‍♂️

Worth it.

I caught some killer shots of the water pump structures, Christmas lights doing the most and the legendary Gino’s East. I ordered deep dish again (veggie, obviously)… and I’m officially calling it: deep dish is AMAZING, but it is also a commitment. For the rest of this trip? Tavern-style only. Deep dish is too much for one person, even the “small.” 😂🍕

Chicago at night is straight magic — gray, cold days and then BOOM… vibrant, lively nights. Last night felt different too. Like the city had a little extra playful joy in the air. Maybe a different neighborhood, maybe Thursday energy, maybe the weekend peeking around the corner… but it was contagious. I found myself smiling at everybody like I live here.

And yes, I’m fully aware people were probably thinking, “What is this guy staring at?”

Answer: everything. Always everything. 📸✨

Round two tonight… and I’m hoping I bring the real camera this time. I’ve been doing all these adventures with just the phone so far, but tonight? We level up. 😎

Day 3 and final day of the conference wrapped early!

Had time to hang out with my new friends and grab a classic Chicago dog at Devil Dawgs—that place was buzzing! Caught the bus back to the hotel, said my goodbyes, and then wandered toward Navy Pier—camera in hand.

Tonight was just perfect. I got to hang out with some new conference friends, and we visited the iconic Chicago Bean. Took some gorgeous photos!

Afterward, we had a stellar Mediterranean dinner at Ema—huge shoutout to George for making it extra memorable. A beautiful night all around!

After landing, I hopped on the L into downtown. Not sure I loved the experience, but at least I can say I rode Chicago’s iconic train once. From the station, it was about a half-mile walk to the hotel, luggage in hand, snow drifting down, wind cutting through everything. Around 20° without the wind and close to zero with the wind chill. Classic Chicago welcome.

I stopped a few times along the way to grab a couple of shots, already scouting locations for night photography. The city wears a lot of gray during the day, but I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be a different story once the lights come on.

if it wasn't for the conversation that me and you had during my sit down and your awesome artwork, I may have not pulled the trigger as soon as I did. But I'm happy that we talked. I am hopeful that I will let this thing live and not kill it. But man, I appreciate you! Also, just a heads up I am looking to come out and see you again. Maybe spring or summer and get some more art! I'll keep you posted brother!
