According to news reports, thousands of residents have been without power for about 12 days now due to severe storms and disaster. Now, it seems as if the city of Gary is being ignored by their own local officials who have not really bothered to give a statement on their efforts to rebuild the city.

Gary Indiana was once the home to the largest steel mill in America. Approximately one third of its roughly 70,000 residents live in poverty according to U.S. Census data.

Fun Fact: Gary Indiana is also the birthplace of Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5 band.

BREAKING NEWS: A Texas judge denied Karmelo Anthony’s request for a new trial on Saturday, August 23, leaving his murder conviction and 35-year prison sentence in tact while his attorneys continue challenging the case through the appeals process.

FYI- The judge who was identified as Michael Chitty was a RETIRED JUDGE from Kaufman County that was assigned to this case.

Karmelo Anthony, 19, was convicted in June of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf. Anthony fatally stabbed Metcalf during an April 2025 confrontation at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas.

Anthony maintained that he acted in self-defense . A Collin County jury rejected that argument and sentenced him to 35 years in prison.

The denial does not end Anthony’s legal fight. His case now moves toward the Texas appellate courts, where his attorneys can continue challenging his conviction.

Lonn Hartman, 37, was brutally attacked while attending a Bliss Fest, a small music festival in Harbor Springs, Michigan on July 11. While police have said the case is a “high priority,” they have yet to release an update on the near-fatal assault. According to news reports, this incident was declared as a hate crime.

Using standard digital audio workstations and processing techniques like subtractive EQ and gain adjustments, she isolated background noises on the call that appear to mention Nolan’s name and phrases like “Damn it Bart” and “NoNo’s really dead.”

Actor Michael Wright who was best known for his ICONIC role as Eddie King Jr in the movie, “The Five Heartbeats,” has sadly passed away at the age of 70 on Aug 22, 2026. According to news reports, he struggled from complications of heart failure and Marchiafavia-Bingham disease.

Born in New York City on April 30, 1956, Michael Wright began his film career playing Clinton in the 1979 cult classic, “The Wanderers.” He earned critical acclaim and the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival for Robert Altman’s “Streamers,” in 1983.

He also starred as Elias Taylor in the sci-fi television miniseries V and V: The Series (1984-1985). Wright also played memorable big-screen tough roles in films such as The Principal (1987), Sugar Hill (1994), and Money Talks (1997).

Fun Fact: He appeared on television as inmate Omar White in HBO’s gritty drama Oz (2001-2003), and later on in The CW’s sci-fi drama series Black Lightning (2019).
