Today marks our official 2-year milestone of The Neon Makers Guild. We extend our gratitude to all members for their continuous support of this grassroots, volunteer-led organization. ❀️⚑

Throughout our second year, we successfully organized two in-person meetups and 12 virtual benders brunches via Zoom. Additionally, we enhanced our website by incorporating email updates on the members only forum, boosted website speed, continued our monthly neon newsletter and expanded our membership to nearly 100 individuals across 5 counties.🌎

As we embark on another year, our focus remains on fostering a sense of community and challenging any misconceptions about neon being a declining art form.

If you are not a member yet, we invite you to join us in celebrating the enduring craft of real neon and the dedicated individuals who bring it to life.

July 21st is our next Benders Happy Hour 6pm join now to get the zoom link! 🍹🍸

Are you tired of seeing LED flex tubing being passed off as 'neon signs'? We understand your frustration. As a group of hard working women neon glass benders, we have dedicated years preserving this endangered art form. We believe in the authenticity and craftsmanship of true neon signs.

Real neon offers numerous advantages over LEDs. They provide greater light output per energy used, optimal legibility, a longer life span and are meticulously handmade by skilled artisans like us. Moreover, neon signs can be repaired and recycled, reducing waste and promoting sustainability.

On the other hand, LEDs are composed of e-waste that contains harmful substances such as arsenic, micro-plastics, and heavy metals. Once a diode goes out, there is no repair option; it's simply discarded and replaced. In a world already burdened by plastic waste, supporting local REAL neon benders is a step towards a less wasteful future.

Furthermore, it is disheartening to see how some LED companies resort to deceptive tactics. They often spread misinformation about the supposed dangers of neon gas, which is actually a harmless element that we all breathe in every day. These companies prey on the lack of awareness and exploit the public's concerns. Additionally, when it comes to customer service, faceless companies that sell LED signs often disappear when customers seek refunds or repairs for broken diodes. Some even go as far as stealing photographs of genuine neon signs to advertise their products, only to deliver a cheap LED version to unsuspecting clients. It's important to be vigilant and support reputable artisans who prioritize transparency and customer satisfaction.

Remember, supporting local artisans ensures not only the authenticity and quality of your neon but also contributes to a fair and ethical marketplace.

We understand that investing in a genuine neon sign may require a bit more upfront, but remember, heirloom objects are always worth it. Join us in supporting local artisans and preserving the art of neon bending. Together, let's shine a light on the true beauty of real neon!
