“In a world where life is more and more defined, analyzed, counted and measured, art provides a chance to play in an arena with no rules. There are no rules about making and creating, at least no rules you have to follow.”

Jessica Sylvia is a visual artist and light sculptor, creating massive geometric and abstract paintings and using interesting mediums like el wire and gold leaf. Jessica works in one of our (mostly!) finished studios that is in MC Henley’s cold cast room. Her studio is the loveliest, coziest, most beautifully lit up studio

The space that our members create in is full of amazing history. We wanted to show the community some of that history on a shirt through drawings from the Henley’s Manual Of Roller Skating published in 1885. Check them out! Meet the artists of QCC!!
Joe Thompson is an artist of many mediums, including wood-working and painting. He has done many art installations and murals around Richmond, including some of the murals downtown and the owl tree at Glenn Miller Park. Recently he has been interested in making alternative versions of master works throughout art history- an example is his take on William Morris’ wallpaper designs (seen on slide 2-4). Joe works out of one of the more finished studio spaces at the MC Henley building and uses it for his personal art and for making canvases for his business, Good Painter Canvases ( ). Joe makes hand stretched canvases in custom shapes and sizes at very affordable prices! Swipe to check out some of the pieces he is most proud of!!
