The application window for the Ossabaw Island Writers’ Retreat has now closed. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who applied, shared the opportunity, encouraged a friend, or simply held this work in mind. Preparing each retreat is an act of care, and the writers who join us do so because of a community that believes serious writing deserves time and attention.

If you missed this deadline, we hope you’ll consider applying for our fall writing retreat in Darien or for Ossabaw Island 2027. Each session is shaped with intention, small cohorts, and close faculty engagement to support meaningful progress on manuscripts in all stages. Applications open well in advance, and we encourage interested writers to begin preparing early.

We also want to share that the more donors we have, the more scholarships we can offer. Our nonprofit is committed to providing full scholarships to writers who otherwise could not attend, and every tax-deductible donation directly supports that mission. Whether through participation, generosity, or simply spreading the word, thank you for being part of this work.

Today is the final day to apply for the Ossabaw Island Writers’ Retreat. The application window closes at midnight on February 15, and once it does, this cohort will be set. Ossabaw is not a place that rushes the work—but the opportunity to join it does have an end.
Ossabaw Island is remote, wild, and deliberately hard to reach. That distance is what makes the retreat possible. Once writers arrive, the noise drops away. There are no errands, no schedules to manage, no decisions beyond the page. Housing, ferry transportation, parking, meals, and individual manuscript consultations are all included, allowing writers to fully enter the work. With only 15 writers accepted and a faculty ratio of 1 to 3, each manuscript receives real, sustained attention.
Our writers go on to publish not because of credentials or formal education, but because they are given time, care, and rigorous engagement with their work. Ossabaw exists for writers who are ready to take their manuscript seriously and to give it the conditions it needs to move forward. If that’s you, this is your moment.
Applications close at midnight tonight, February 15.

f you’re seeing this and hesitating, it may be because you know how rare this kind of opportunity is. Time, solitude, and real attention to your work are increasingly difficult to find. Ossabaw was built to offer exactly that.
Fifteen writers. A faculty ratio of 1 to 3. Individual manuscript consultations. An island where distractions fall away and the work comes into focus. Tuition includes everything—housing, ferry, parking, meals—so that your energy can stay with the writing itself.
Applications for the Ossabaw Island Writers’ Retreat close tonight. If your manuscript is ready for care, rigor, and meaningful progress, this is your moment to apply. www.ossabawwritersretreat.org

The Ossabaw Island Writers’ Retreat closes tonight. This is not a conference or a networking event. It is a working retreat designed for writers who want time, quiet, and honest engagement with their manuscript in progress.

We welcome writers at all stages and from all backgrounds. Many of our participants did not come through traditional academic pathways, yet they go on to publish because they finally receive sustained attention and meaningful feedback. Ossabaw is a place where serious work happens—slowly, carefully, and with care.

If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to prioritize your writing, this is it. Applications close tonight, and the cohort will remain intentionally small to protect the depth of the experience.
