Have I mentioned it’s been a tough year for gardens? 😬 The good news is that we are still feeling optimistic. Many people are struggling for any tomatoes to ripen this year with the dry conditions and hot hot heat. We are finally starting to get there. 😍😍😍

Did you know that you can save tomatoes in the freezer until have enough to process for sauces, salsa, etc? I’ve struggled in the past with my tomato’s rotting before I have a large enough quantity to do anything with. 😭 So, we are giving it a try this year and we will update how it goes 🤷‍♀️ I’m all about learning through trial and error.

Our hope is to be able to make true garden fresh salsa with home grown tomatoes, peppers, and onions

Strawberry Watermelon
Leelanau Sweet (orange flesh)
Royal Golden
Jubilee (Kori’s favorite)

Life is about balancing success with failure. I’ve not updated in a bit because we’ve definitely had some failures to work through. For us, squash bugs and vine borer bugs have wreaked havoc on some of our favorite crops. Very hot and dry weather conditions have slowed or stopped growth all together, but we are keeping at it, learning, and celebrating the successes we do get. I encourage everyone to find a moment every single day that brings a smile to your face, those are what will carry you through. In fact, just writing this post make my heart happy celebrating all the beautiful wins versus stewing on the setbacks. Have a good evening everyone!

When life brings potato bugs that kill your plants, you dig to find what potato treasures you were fortunate enough to get.

We have fended off a few plants and have more to put in the ground. So far, we are at least thankful for the trials and tribulations of learning to keep our beautiful plants safe.

Kori has a new garden tool that she will start using tomorrow…a cordless vacuum to suck up all the foes that hurt our beautiful plants. She’s excited for her new job 😂

While showing our plant babies (since the rain 🌧️ has been very unpredictable) we found our first cucumber. 🥒 It’s the tiniest things in life that bring light and happiness. This little guy is just the beginning of a summer full of beautiful harvests. I wish everyone a safe and peaceful Memorial Day weekend.
