The film club is no longer active due to financial concerns. The royalty fees, space rental and insurance far exceed any revenue we can generate.

Hi, what’s left of the club leadership is preparing to disband. Per our bylaws the money left will go to another nonprofit.

I see no way to over come the cost of royalties and event insurance with our small Audiences.

There's a new documentary on TCM in celebration of the 100 years of the American Society of Cinematographers: "Image Makers: The Adventures of America's Pioneer Cinematographers". An encore performance just started, but it will also show on Saturday 11/9 and Wednesday 11/13. Its focus is on early filmmaking, don't miss it!

Hi folks, The Film Club is taking a break from organizing public events. We will be enjoying films from our library in members homes in the meantime.

Well, in a purist sense, he has a point, but what Asimov defined science fiction as is not really what it has come to encompass. The dictionary defines it as:

"fiction based on imagined future scientific or technological advances and major social or environmental changes, frequently portraying space or time travel and life on other planets."

Under this definition, Star Wars is definitely science fiction. It also defines the now established genre of science opera.

The other point I need to make is that I feel OLD with Star Wars being on TCM...lol. But, to be fair, some movies become classics sooner than others.

Sorry, but just finished reading one o the wildest film books ever: SLEAZOID EXPRESS by Bill Landis & Michelle Clifford, about the really, really wild days of the old Main Line circuit--This list was inspired by and in tribute to that book and era.....Several of these pictures (Not most of them), ended up in the Midnight Rock circuit, which is where they should only be revived at--and in any case, many of them are way too hard going for this time and place....but just a teaser for what was....

Very hard going, for a 1st foray into the midnight screen here-- but it's from back when John Waters was still a crucial director. Who knows? If we can get an appropriate venue, we can get a screening--(Midnight only, of course)

Desperate Living is a 1977 American comedy film directed, produced, and written by John Waters.[2] The film stars Liz Renay, Mink Stole, Edith Massey, Susan Lowe, Mary Vivian Pearce and Jean Hill.
