Tumbleweed Music Festival The 2026 Tumbleweed Music Festival will be held Sept 4th to 6th, 2026 in Howard Amon Park in Richland, WA. Starting at 6pm Friday!

In a normal year that has a physical festival: FRIDAY NIGHT, ALL DAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY in Howard Amon Park, in Richland, Washington. For more information about these activities, please see tumbleweedfest.com.

Today is the day! Tumbleweed begins tonight at 6 PM.

We are so excited to have you all back. Grab a chair, find your spot on the lawn, and settle in for a beautiful night of music with a whole lot of good people.

For the first time this year, we’re going to livestream our Dan Maher North Stage!
We’ll be streaming the Friday night “Expanding Horizons” concert, which starts at 6pm Friday, September 4th.

Then, from 11am to 6pm both Saturday and Sunday, you’ll get to watch every single one of our Dan Maher North Stage performances, including the Songwriting Contest Finalists’ performances on Saturday afternoon, and the “Nautical Track” all Sunday afternoon.

Volunteers are why and how the Tumbleweed Music Festival Happens!

And right now, we may not have enough to make this year’s festival run smoothly.

Tumbleweed provides our performers and volunteers with a range of delicious foods all through the day on Saturday and Sunday. This year, unfortunately, our planned solution has collapsed, and we are in DESPERATE NEED of a KITCHEN MANAGER.

This will mostly include supervising simple food prep, reheating, and assuring that the Chris Mesford Hospitality Room is kept stocked.

We still have more requests for Homestays from performers than we have places to put them!

Tumbleweed is happy to help people who want to come to the festival, but who would prefer not to be in a hotel. We offer Homestays (to the extent that we have enough Homestay Hosts, see below) to attendees and performers alike.

We can only offer Homestays to the extent that kind-hearted, generous people offer up space for people to stay in, whether a guest room, living-room-floor crash space, or a driveway or other area to pitch a tent or park an RV for the weekend. THIS YEAR, WE ARE DESPERATELY IN NEED OF 3 OR 4 MORE!

Tumbleweed is not only RUN by volunteers, it’s PLANNED AND ORGANIZED by volunteers. We can always use more folks to take on aspects of planning the festival throughout the year. We need coordinators for all sorts of things, including PR, Food Vendors, Craft Vendors, Applications, and more.

Today’s featured volunteer positions: MISCELLANEOUS TASKS AND JOBS

Tumbleweed has a lot of small things that need to be done to make sure that the festival runs as smoothly as possible:

· Yard signs – Tumbleweed has a stock of yard signs that are put up at least a couple weeks before the festival, and gathered in again after it’s over.
· Volunteer check-in – Volunteers check in at the Info Booth, are given their “Participant” buttons, and assigned to various jobs, either those they have signed up for, or anything that needs doing.
· Concert and Contra Dance Ticket Takers – as the Saturday Concert and Sunday Contra Dance are our only two ticketed events, we need folks to take those tickets before and during those events.
· Lee Blvd. Traffic Monitor – beginning Friday afternoon, we have sole use of the end section of Lee Boulevard, and the City of Richland Parks & Rec. folks put up a barricade and cones to control traffic. We need people to stand shifts at that entrance, and make sure that only food and craft vendors (and the cruise ship tour buses) are allowed in, and to let out those vehicles when they’re done setting up.
· Workshop Monitors – our Workshop rooms run on the same schedule as the stages, and we need people to perform the same duties as the Stage assistants: keep track of the time & give the five-minute warning, make and record audience counts, distribute & collect surveys, etc.

Today’s featured volunteer position: EMCEES

At each of our four outdoor and two indoor stages, each act needs to be introduced before they begin to perform, and then thanked at the end of the performance. That’s the job of our stage Emcees.

Emcees also talk to each performer before they go on the stage to see if there’s anything in particular that they’d like to have announced along with the reading of the written performer bio.

Emcees also help fill time during performer changeovers by thanking our sponsors, announcing other special events going on at the festival, and provide (hopefully) witty banter if there’s time.
