πΊπΈ What a wonderful day at The Richland Senior Center as we celebrated the Fathers, Grandfathers, Mentors, and Faithful Men who mean so much to our families and community during our annual Fatherβs Day Luncheon. Smiles, laughter, and camaraderie were shared throughout the room!
We were delighted to welcome Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture Andy Gipson as our guest speaker. Before the luncheon, he took time to greet our Acrylic Art ladies and see firsthand the important role senior centers play in communities across Mississippi.
As more than 50 men gathered in The Hall, they were welcomed into a warm and thoughtfully dressed setting featuring handcrafted mockingbird centerpieces created by our talented senior craft ladies. Guests also enjoyed a delicious homestyle meal made possible through the generosity of Jared Morrison and lovingly prepared by Sheila Morrison and friends.
Dr. Lester Spell, a regular volunteer in The Richland Senior Center, joined us as an Honored Guest to introduce Commissioner Gipson, with whom he has a longstanding bond and relationship.
Commissioner Gipson's message on faith, family, and patriotism resonated deeply with those in attendance. His reminder that growing older does not mean a person is past their prime or without purpose was especially meaningful. Drawing from the lives of Moses, Abraham, and other Biblical figures, he shared how some of God's greatest work was accomplished through people in their later years, reminding our seniors that God is not finished with them yet.
Thank you to Commissioner Gipson for sharing his wisdom and kindness, and thank you to Jared and Sheila Morrison for helping make this special day possible. Most of all, thank you to the wonderful men of The Richland Senior Center. It was our pleasure to celebrate you today!
