"I start by drawing lines with charcoal and graphite. I use a makeup sponge to smooth and add shadows. I brush in colors using acrylic paint and seal with fixative spray. I repeat the process and apply several coats of UV clear finish."

You couldn't walk far at Cottonwood Art Festival without running into a little Julia Gilmore.

Her artwork greeted visitors at entrances, guided guests through the festival, appeared on merchandise, and became part of the visual fabric of the weekend. As our 2026 Featured Artist, Julia's colorful, Texas-inspired style brought a little extra charm to every corner of the park.

We're thankful for the talent she shared with our community and thrilled that her work helped shape this year's festival experience.

If you loved the artwork as much as we did, give Julia Gilmore a follow and explore more of her incredible work. https://www.juliagilmore.com/
