Hey everyone, I wanted to share a spiritual experience I had yesterday with you all. I call these moments in my life "tender mercies," when I can really see and feel God's hand at work. You might think this story is just a coincidence, but for me, it's clear evidence that God is aware of all His children and loves us.
So, here's what happened: After getting my haircut at the barbershop, I noticed a young woman and her little girl on the corner of Walmart with a sign, asking for help. Initially, I told myself I'd help her, but realized I didn't have any cash on me. However, as I drove away, I felt a prompting telling me to go back and ask her what she needed. Before I knew it, I was making a U-turn.
When I approached them and asked them what they needed, the woman said they needed money for rent, diapers, formula, and food. I said, "I don't have cash on me right now, but how about a Walmart gift card?" She liked the idea and agreed. But then, as I pulled into Walmart, I remembered I had around 300 dollars in Costco cash rewards from my credit card I hadn't redeemed yet. And guess what? Costco (my favorite store) was right next to Walmart!
I was still a bit torn about how much to give her and what my wife would say. But as I sat in my car at Costco, debating while waiting to get some gas, I received an unexpected message from Facebook Marketplace. Someone wanted to buy the subwoofers I'd been trying to sell for months with no luck. Suddenly, someone was interested, and their offer was pretty much the exact amount I was thinking of giving to the lady. I was a bit skeptical about the buyer following through since you never know with FB Marketplace, but I decided to go ahead and give her the cash.
That experience felt like a sign to me. So, after getting gas for my car, I got the cash, found the lady again, and gave it to her. She and her daughter thanked me with their broken English, and then I was on my way home.
When I got home and told my wife about it, she wasn't exactly happy at first. I explained that I felt the need to help her out and that MAYBE the subwoofer guy would show up. As we were discussing it, we heard a knock at the door. It was the subwoofer guy, ready to buy the subs. Haha. Everything just seemed to fall into place at the right time.
I don't know what the lady will do with the money. That's not for me to judge. What I do know is that whenever I feel impressed to do something good, I believe it comes from God. I don't overthink it; I just trust that it's the right thing to do.
So, if you ever feel that push to help someone out, just go for it. Even if it's not divinely inspired, it's still a good way to show love to others. One of God's commandments is to love your neighbor, and I think that anytime you feel like doing something good for another person, you should do it.
Now, the purpose of this post isn’t to boast about a good deed I did. I just wanted to share how I saw God’s hand in my life yesterday. I believe God loves all His children and is aware of all our situations. I hope sharing this story is helpful and it inspires you to always look for ways to love and serve others. Remember that Jesus said the greatest among us is the servant, so let’s all love and serve each other.
