We love singing “Jesu dulcis memoria” set to music by Connor Koppin. The text is an ancient hymn attributed to Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153), and is found in many modern hymnals as “Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee.”

The two verses of text in Koppin’s setting can be translated as

The sweet thought of Jesus
Gives true joy to the heart;
But more than honey and all things
Is his sweet presence.

Nothing more delightful is sung,
Nothing more pleasing heard,
No sweeter thought
Than Jesus, the Son of God.

“The Spirit of God Like a Fire is Burning” makes us think of temples: the hymn was sung at the dedication of the Kirtland Temple in 1836 and has been sung at every temple dedication since.

This video celebrates pioneer temples with historical and modern pictures of the first five:
• Kirtland (March 27, 1836)
• Nauvoo (Nauvoo May 1, 1846; rebuilt and rededicated June 27, 2002)
• St. George (April 6, 1877)
• Logan (May 17, 1884)
• Manti (May 21, 1888)

Here's our latest video, a combined effort with the BYU-Idaho Men's & Women's Choruses and Bella Voce.

For us, this piece and its message reflect both the struggles as well as the triumphs of this past year.

We love God and are grateful for His goodness, and recognize his guiding hand as we keep "marching" forward.

Three Brigham Young University--Idaho Choirs combine in this new setting of a favorite Christian text, by Paul Busselberg. “Come, We That Love the Lord" Text...

The title of Schubert’s “Widerspruch” is often translated as “Contradiction” (literally “against-speak”). It explores the different ways we discover who we are as we interact with Creation.
We felt that the song and its message paired well with the landscape paintings of German-American artist Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902).
From a concert performance on February 19, 2021.
