VSDC is now part of Fordney Foundation!
The Fordney Foundation is a non-profit foundation for dance sport that was established in May, 2002. The Fordney Foundation provides young people with a gift for the sport grants that allow them to train and compete in dance sport competition.
Preteen, Junior and Youth competition at VSDC will take place on Sunday, July 17th, 2022.

Dan Messenger and Mazen Hamza join Rosendo Fumero as Organizers!
Rosendo Fumero and the entire Virginia State Dancesport Team is excited to welcome Dan Messenger and Mazen Hamza as new Organizers of this storied competition. Just in time for its 57th year, Virginia State will shine as bright as the summer sun thanks to this exciting new partnership.
Dan is a successful competition organizer having run multiple events over the years, including Wisconsin State Dance Championships, Seattle Star Ball, Gateway Dancesport and City Lights Open. His vision and ability to dream of what is possible is a great addition to Virginia State.
Mazen is a first-time organizer and brings his experience as a competitor and innovative dancer to the team. A new look and updates to the event will add fresh new energy to this beloved competition.
One of the longest running events in the country, Virginia State will continue to call the beautiful Hyatt Reston Town Center home from July 13-17, 2022.
“Virginia is for Lovers” and there are so many ways you can feel that love as you participate in this year’s event including touring our Nation’s Capital, enjoying music outdoors at Wolf Trap, or visiting some of the top museums in the world.
Whether you’re a beginning dancer, an experienced competitor, or anywhere in between, you can find your personal best at Virginia State. Virginia State offers some of the highest top teacher prizes in the country. Rest assured, Virginia State is for dancers and we look forward to greeting everyone at this year’s event.

Congratulations to our Top Teachers and THANK YOU to everyone that participated at the 2021 Virginia State DanceSport Championships! While we definitely missed many of our regulars that were unable to attend this year, we were happy to have so many new participants that we welcome into our VSDC family! We are so grateful for our amazing staff and volunteers, and the Hyatt Regency Reston hotel and their staff ... fantastic in every way.... and the food was outstanding! Dear Dance Family
It is with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes we have no alternative than to cancel the 56th Virginia State DanceSport Championships. We have literally chased down every path we could find to try to make it happen. As the State of Virginia continue to reopen new phases, the restrictions of “personal distancing” and “face coverings” remain in place making it pretty impossible for dancers. We honestly wanted this more for all of you and our dance community more than anything else. We will miss you all terribly and we pray for our country and our industry to heal soon. Mark your calendars for next year July 15-18, 2021

UPDATE: We are very hopeful that 2020 Virginia State DanceSport Championships will be a go! July 16 - 19, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency Reston Hotel. We are working closely with the Hotel to insure all guests that our priority is the safety and well being of all. Over the next few weeks we expect there will be lots of changes so we will continue to monitor and pass information on as we get it. Undoubtedly there will be several changes we will implement to comply with all safety guidelines for our schedule and all Events. Please be aware that all posted information is subject to change. We will do our best to update as we get more information. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us directly.
