ADOPTED!!!
There have been no inquiries for Polu. We are so bummed. Her owner is looking to surrender her to a shelter soon as she cannot keep her much longer. We need your help in getting the word about today about Polu! Thank you for your help, Friends.
This blue-eyed beauty's name is Polu. She is an 8-year-old lab/husky mix who weighs 60 pounds. Polu is described as a "playful dog who loves every person she meets". Her unique look makes people stop and want to meet her. Polu is happy to oblige!
While Polu has lived with other dogs in the past, and she wants to play with those she meets, we are told she can get snappy. Her person believes that with proper introductions and an experienced dog owner, she may be able to learn to live with another dog properly. The key here is, Polu needs a committed owner. If one cannot help her become socialized in a kind way, one should not consider adopting Polu. We want to set Polu up for success! She'd be happy continuing to be an only dog in her new home if that is possible. Polu will chase cats so a kitty-free home is a must. She has been good with older children, those who know how to be gentle and respectful.
Polu enjoys her daily walks. We are told she can pull on the leash when she sees another dog, which is pretty typical dog behavior. One must be able to handle her size and strength and ideally give her a refresher on leash manners, as it is reported she has had training in the past. Polu loves playing with her toys.
Polu can handle stairs right now, but she does have early hip dysplasia. At this time, she takes no medications or supplements. It would be good for her adopter to look into options for Polu so that she can remain comfortable and moving well. A commitment to lifelong veterinary care and good quality dog food is important with every adoption.
During the day Polu is fine to stay alone inside her home; she manages a few hours between potty breaks. Her person says she is not much of a barker. She will hang out on her bed or people-watch at the window. Polu can be mellow when it's appropriate, just chilling out, not anxious about when her person will return home. With kindness shown and time to acclimate to a new home, we'd like to think Polu would do well. She sounds like a great dog!
