At Spotlight Dance Center (SDC), we value our student’s uniqueness and a welcoming community just as much as dance education. Our studio is dedicated to providing a high quality, non-competitive, performance oriented dance experience for children and adults through fun and developmentally appropriate classes. In addition to offering private and group instruction during the school year in creative
movement, pre-dance, ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern, musical theatre, acrobatics and hip-hop, SDC also offers camps, intensives, and drop-in classes over the summer. Infants, toddlers and caregivers are welcomed into our early education classes in shorter sessions throughout the year. Each class at SDC implements brain-compatible principles developed by internationally recognized, master teacher Anne Green Gilbert. All members of the SDC teaching faculty are University trained in Dance, Theatre, or Performing Arts and holds a BA, BFA, or MFA. We employ safe and sound teaching methods for the whole dancer. Our Acrobatic Dance Faculty are Certified in the Acrobatic Arts (AA) Curriculum and we follow the AA syllabus to ensure safe progressions for skill development. We provide several opportunities outside of technique class for dancers to grow, develop and learn more about the art form they are studying, including:
The option to participate in our assistant teacher training program for dancers age 12 & up. The opportunity to be inducted into our Middle School or High School chapters of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. For dancers who love the Spotlight as much at we do, the possibility to perform on stages around the Seattle metro area as a member of one of our 3 performing companies (ages 8 & up).
