The Midnight Engine: A Dispatch on Paoli Productions
There was nowhere left to run after the sky cracked wide open over the Black Rock Desert in the feral late summer of ’23. The playa had dissolved into a vast, sucking swamp of primordial alkali slime, and most sane men were curled in their tents praying for mercy. But somewhere out in that blinding, howling whiteout, the wiring in my head snapped completely clean. Looking at those monstrous, neon-lit monoliths standing defiantly in the tempest, the madness took hold. Spectator days were dead. The only way out was through the furnace: learn the dark arts, build the heavy iron, and drag our own towering monuments into the dust.
Back in the humid swamp of Florida, the fever didn't break. It got worse. Nights vanished in a haze of glowing blue monitors, savage self-taught digital illustration, motion graphics, and the bureaucratic nightmare of forging a business from pure adrenaline while running the daily corporate gauntlet.
By 2024, the old life was toxic fuel. We burned the boats. We liquidated the wreckage, shoved the remnants of our existence into a single moving pod, loaded the cats, and hurtled west into the high desert of Reno on a one-way ticket to complete reinvention.
The next two years were a raw, beautiful, unrelenting grind. The marriage went up in flames, the living quarters were microscopic, and the desert wind will strip the enamel right off your teeth. It didn't matter. Sub-zero winter twilights, blistering summer ovens—every spare hour after the clock punched out was spent out in the gravel, lungs full of propellant and dust, slinging paint and cutting stock until the fingers went numb.
The madness evolved into precision. Street-level aerosol wizardry mutated into heavy timber, high-gloss epoxy pours, cold industrial hardware, and savage blueprint schematics.
Today, Paoli Productions LLC is a fully instrumentalized, sovereign Nevada design and fabrication house. We do not deal in cheap plastic novelties or disposable garbage. We drag hallucinations out of the ether and hammer them into physical reality—from bespoke hardwood and metal builds to massive, bone-crushing desert installations designed to survive the apocalypse.
