I've been a fire spinner for 6+ years and absolutely love it as a hobby. There's a sense of accomplishment from learning a new move every week and acquiring a physical skill that's great for spatial awareness. Lessons are $15 a class, taught at the fabulous River School. Poi (tennis balls in stockings) are provided for practice and you're welcome to take a pair for practicing at home. There are 10

slots per class for individual attention on techniques. The first lessons teach the fundamentals of poi, after 4 sessions fire dancing lesson are offered, teaching safety, types of fuel, equipment needed and construction a basic performance piece before lighting up.
