When you put yourself out there, the loudest feedback will almost always be the negative stuff. Especially online.
Most times, purely negative feedback isn’t honest. Rather it’s the reactionary response from people who don’t have it in them to put themselves out there like you did. Envy disguised as feedback.

Engaging that negative feedback will embolden the negative voices and can cause you to drown out the supportive ones.

We all fall into that trap of using negative criticism to validate our own self doubt from time to time. I know that happened to me this year. Found myself validating my internal insecurities over the attacks of envious people who don’t have even a fraction of my talents. GUARANTEED you can say the same of your life at one time or another. Because tearing down the talents of others IS what no-talent people do.
(Suggestion: work on a talent instead of tearing others down.)

Thankfully, just one conversation with NO ONE GOOD was all it took to make me realize how f*cking awesome I am again. It really showed me how juvenile, disinformed, immature, and petty these negatively charged people can be and that I don’t really need to consider their thoughts at all. They aren’t being honest with themselves, let alone with me.

Big thanks to NO ONE GOOD for reminding me of who TF I am and what I am capable of.

All my doubt has turned into action. Club Underground will be getting MORE upgrades beginning in October, we have WINTER BAND WARS news coming soon and you can look forward to an INSANE calendar for 2027. Then we can all watch the competition keep biting our style as they have since we opened. 🤷‍♂️

I am just a little sick and tired of watching OUR TOWN RENO and THIS IS RENO denigrate community members then try to justify that their hit pieces somehow qualify as news. Their sense of community has the depth and clarity of a mud puddle.

The majority of their commenters respond that these rags are just posting for clickbait. That’s true in my experience! Six part series behind a pay wall isn’t reporting news, it’s using someone’s story to sell subscriptions. The fact that they get all up in their own comments arguing with readers and justifying their lousy actions shows their intent to harm the subjects of their pieces. Going so far as to make whole separate posts about the readers in the comments is just sooooo slimy. Ugh. Why are the most judgmental folks so often the ickiest themselves?

Well…here’s some news for both of you Enquirer wannabes-
If the community feedback is that what you’re reporting ain’t news, then guess what?
IT AIN’T NEWS!!
The readers decide what is news, not you bottom feeders ever chasing clicks at anyone else’s expense.

This time, the person is no longer with us to defend themselves. Thankfully, commenters community wide have let their opinions be known and a more collective consciousness has spoken.

Our Town Reno’s release about Lance White’s untimely death is SHAMEFUL, RECKLESS and HIGHLY INCONSIDERATE. I know OTR is going to whine at everyone that RGJ also reported on it, but pointing to someone else’s behavior isn’t a way to justify your own. OTR is known for its character assassinating framework and gossip style reporting. They’re also in a big ol’ rush to be the first ones to publish everything. Well, you were in such a rush to be fastest to scoop this “news” that you gave ZERO consideration to sensitivity. You didn’t think about the community at all, LET ALONE this man’s loved ones and friends. Just wanted to hurry up and share some tea. Gross and unclassy.

The lesson-
It’s not just WHAT you report, but HOW.
