¡Feliz cumpleaños, saltï! ✨ Today is a special day! Back in October 12th 2020, with the miraculous touch of the goddesses, my drag mother Philly Pina gave birth to saltï 🤰🏽. It all began with that insatiable creative curiosity that defines me, especially during a time when we had ample time to reflect and explore, confined within the walls of our protective bubble.
Back then, it was about trying new things and doing them right. With the blessings of those who do it professionally, saltï quickly found her way to the stage, even on that first Halloween show where I hurt my knee. 😅
I never imagined her future, but over the past six years, she has allowed me to not only gain a deeper understanding of myself but also push myself out of my comfort zone. In 2021, we embarked on a journey together, leading parades in the Midwest and performing across the country where drag wasn’t as widely recognized. We experimented with music, filmed music videos in the desert, even making it to the Latin Music Awards, and accomplished many other remarkable feats.
I often wonder if I am saltï. While I share some of her traits and use the name as my artistic moniker, saltï is a character among many in my mind, serving as a vessel of creativity, confidence, and adventure.
My drag journey, like many in my life, has never been linear, and I can’t predict where it will lead me next. Regardless, I am excited for whatever lies ahead!
We continue to spread love and joy through our campy performances and use art as a means to support communities across the country and the world. Although I may not be physically present in Venezuela, I have been able to connect and support a community with similar skills and interests, which fills my heart with love. Witnessing them share their art globally brings me immense happiness as well.
Thank you to all the saltïnes around the world who have followed my chaotic creative endeavors and joined me on this exciting journey of learning an art form that is not an easy task.
