I recently had the opportunity to embrace a challenge. First, even dance teachers take classes, to continue to grow and learn. I have been fortunate enough to take classes with Aurel at Ancient Arts Studio in Berkley Ma as part of that growth goal. My challenge was to do a veil piece to live music. I am not the best veil dancer to begin with but this challenge was to 1) not do a lot of veil tricks ( oh boy I thought, what was left ? 2) add some finger symbol playing with the veil ( yikes) 3) add theatrical emotional responses to the song ( also not an actress) and 4) do it all to the sad song " Bir Demet, Yasmin ", about a lost love , who left the grieving lover with only the memory and a flower. No lies , I did not know how I was going to accomplish all these task . Below is the end result .
