Alright everyone, it's time for the big reveal!

As many of you have already guessed, this summer the RAHS Junior Players will be doing Shrek the Musical, Jr!

Adapted for middle schoolers, Shrek the Musical Jr follows the ogre Shrek, who just wants to live alone in his swamp until a group of fairy-tale creatures are banished there. To get his home back, he makes a deal with Lord Farquaad and sets off on a journey with a talkative Donkey, eventually rescuing Princess Fiona. Along the way, Shrek learns about friendship, love, and accepting himself, discovering that true beauty comes from within.

Featuring all the characters we know and love, along with hilarious songs and an inspiring message, we can't wait to bring this classic story to the stage! As always, Junior Players is a free summer school program that produces musicals performed entirely by middle schoolers and staffed by high school and college students. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about the world of musical theatre and hone the skills needed to produce and perform a musical. All middle school-aged students (including those entering 6th or 9th grade in the fall) are encouraged to audition or sign up to be on crew. Yes, there are plenty of opportunities for you even if you're not looking to be onstage!

Auditions for Shrek the Musical, Jr will take place in the CAL Center on Tuesday, June 9th from 6pm to 8pm. Parents will fill out a contact information form and attend a very brief parent meeting laying out what the rest of the summer will look like. After that, you're free to leave or stick around for auditions. Students will be moved between three different audition stations: acting, singing, and dance. Our audition process is meant to be as LOW PRESSURE as possible! We simply want to see what everyone is capable of, and every student who auditions is guaranteed to be in the show.

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4-8pm in the CAL Center, starting on June 11th. We will perform Shrek Jr. on July 17th at 7pm, July 18th at 2pm and 7pm, and July 19th at 2pm. We realize that summers can be a busy time for families and we will do our best to work with conflicts that may arise. We appreciate being informed of any upcoming absences or schedule conflicts as soon as possible.

We cannot wait to get started on putting together this amazing show, and to meet the incredibly talented group of kids we'll get to work with this year. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to message us here on Facebook or email us at [email protected]

Ahoy, mateys! The RAHS Drama Junior Players are back again this summer with another musical that's fun for the whole family! This year, we're excited to announce that our production will be Pirates of Penzance Jr! This version of Gilbert & Sullivan's classic musical comedy has been adapted for middle school performers and features a huge cast of hilarious characters. There's bumbling policemen, pirates with hearts of gold, and of course the iconic Major General himself! This is a fantastic chance for kids to be part of a show that has earned its place in the history of musical theatre, and includes catchy song after catchy song.

Auditions for Pirates of Penzance Jr. will take place in the CAL Center on Monday, June 9th from 6 to 8pm. All middle school-aged kids are invited to be a part of the program, including those entering 6th grade or 9th grade in the fall. Parents are invited to stay for a short meeting with the Jr Players staff before we get started on the audition process. As always, our auditions will be fun and low-stress! Students will rotate in groups between three stations where they will get a chance to show off their skills in three aspects of performing: acting, singing, and dancing. EVERY student who attends auditions will be cast in the show! In addition, any students who are interested in being a part of the technical side of theatre are welcome as well! They'll get a chance to assist with any role they're interested in; whether it's lights, sound, costumes, or anything else! And as always, the RAHS Drama Junior Players is a FREE program that is open to all students who are of middle school age.

Rehearsals will be Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4 to 8pm in the CAL Center, starting on June 10th, the day after auditions. Performances of Pirates of Penzance Jr. will be on July 18th at 7pm, July 19th at 2pm and 7pm, and July 20th at 2pm. For any questions, feel free to message us here on Facebook or email us at [email protected]. We can't wait to meet all the amazing and talented kids who will be joining our rollicking band this year. See you this summer!

The RAHS Junior Players invite you to join us in a world of pure imagination this summer, with our production of W***y Wonka Jr! It's the classic Roald Dahl story we all know and love, about a young boy named Charlie with a big heart and a big love for candy. Though his family is down on their luck and struggles to put food on the table, Charlie gets a chance to dream big when the brilliant but strange candymaker W***y Wonka announces a contest to win a tour of his mysterious factory and a possible lifetime supply of chocolate! The show contains all of the classic songs and characters made popular in the 1971 film, as well as new songs will delight folks of all ages!

Auditions for W***y Wonka Jr. will be held at the CAL Center in Reedsburg on Tuesday, June 4th from 6-8pm. We'll begin with a brief parent meeting to discuss the details of the program and answer any questions that parents or kids might have. Then we'll split students into audition groups and rotate them through the various audition stations: acting, singing, and dancing. Any students who will be entering 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade in the fall are welcome to audition and, as always, ALL students who audition will participate in the show. Any students who are interested in working backstage instead of onstage for the show can indicate that on their audition sheet or let us know in person. There always lots of important technical jobs for kids who are interested in that side of theater! Our audition process is designed to be low-pressure and fun for everyone, we just wanna see what you've got!

Rehearsals for W***y Wonka Jr. will be held in the CAL Center on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4-8pm, starting on June 11 and going until the weekend of performances. We will perform W***y Wonka Jr. on Friday July 19th at 7pm, Saturday July 20th at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday July 21st at 2pm.

Please make sure to consider other summer commitments and plans before joining the program! We understand that summers can be busy and we'll do our best to be flexible, but students are expected to attend most if not all rehearsals and are REQUIRED to attend ALL PERFORMANCES. Please do your best to inform us of any planned absences as early in advance as possible. We'll be going over our attendance policy in further detail at the parent meeting.

Join us for another summer of laughs and music! Our free program is a great way spend your summer, show off your talents, and make new friends! Tell friends! Tell family members! We can never have too many kiddos! For any further questions, feel free to message us on Facebook or email us at [email protected]!

Sometimes you have to get a little bit naughty!

The RAHS Junior Players are back and we're happy to announce that our Summer 2023 production will be Matilda Jr! Adapted for middle schoolers, this musical version of Roald Dahl's classic children's novel tells the story of Matilda, an especially clever 5-year-old girl who won't stand for bullies. When she gets sent to a school run by the biggest bully of them all, Matilda must teach her classmates and her teacher that no one deserves to be pushed around and to stand up for what's right. With plenty of upbeat musical numbers and hilarious characters, Matilda Jr is sure to be an absolute blast!

Auditions for Matilda Jr will take place on Tuesday, June 6th from 6pm-8pm in the CAL Center. A quick parent meeting will also take place right before we get started with auditioning. All middle school-aged students (including those entering 6th or 9th grade in the fall) who audition will receive a part! We will also have opportunities available for any students who have an interest in working on the technical side of things, just let us know at auditions!

Rehearsals will begin on June 12th and will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4pm-8pm in the CAL Center. We understand that summers are a busy time for families and we are willing to be flexible with any conflicts that may arise; however, if your child receives a large part in the show they will be expected to present at most, if not all, rehearsals. Please notify us of any upcoming absences as far in advance as possible. Our show dates will be Friday, July 21st at 7pm, Saturday, July 22nd at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday, July 23rd at 2pm. ALL students must be available for ALL show dates.

Spread the word! If you know any middle schoolers who are interested in acting, singing, dancing, working backstage, or who are just looking for a fun summertime activity, send them our way! RAHS Junior Players is a great way to make new friends, develop young talent, and learn all about the world of live theatre!

If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected], or message us right here on Facebook! We hope to see all you Revolting Children in the CAL on June 6th!
