My painting, Miami beach shack, is a finalist in the 2026 The Doyles Art Award! I’m in a bit of disbelief… so many artists I look up to have been, and are, finalists in the Doyles Art Prize.

My chosen painting, Miami Beach Shack, is a special one. I paint beach shacks around where I live, many of which are knocked down soon after I paint them - but this particular beach shack is still there. The shacks I paint symbolise simpler, colourful times, like a kind of nostalgia and reprieve from all the change and development that surrounds us on the Gold Coast. Their colours reflect an enduring charm often attached to these beautiful structures.

The Doyles Art Award is a nationally recognised award that includes an exhibition in Mudgeeraba, 19-28 June. My painting will be on show and available for purchase through The Doyles. I hope to see you there!

Congratulations to all the finalists and to the mighty team behind The Doyles Art Award for another year… and most of all, my deepest thanks.

Grab your spot! Limited places.

Are you ready to creatively uncover and focus on what’s important to you?

This taster workshop introduces you to a creative, evidence-based coaching process to reimagine what you’re doing, slow down and enjoy what you have, and support your next steps.

You’ll create your personalised collage about a topic or theme you’re looking for clarity on, which you can take with you as a source of motivation. You’ll then engage in a short coaching exercise that draws out the insight within you.

This workshop is really special to me, because I know the creative coaching process works to create a new story and do more of what brings us alive. I’m thrilled to partner with the amazing to share the power of creativity and art for wellbeing in our local community.

No experience or "artistic skill" needed. Materials provided.

NOTE: We are not creating vision boards.

Come solo or share the fun with your loved one – friends, parents, and partners are welcome.

It was a joy to be a panel speaker at ’s launch of the Aqua Limina exhibition - and what company I was in with , and , under 's gentle moderation (and generous pool of water puns) 🙌👏💙

Well done to the GC Creatives team who worked hard behind the scenes to make Aqua Limina a success, especially Karleen Gwinner of for your vision to make the show a reality.

Here's to the power of bringing art, science and community together 👏

Something special happened on Saturday. Dr Nadeeka Rathnayake, judge of the inaugural Creatives Inc Art Award, announced her decision. I loved hearing about her judging process and how she rigorously and care-fully adhered to the criteria.

I was so surprised when Dr Rathnayake announced my name as a finalist. I am proud to share that honour with 4 other talented artists, Paul Harris, Juniper Sikora, Brett Leavy and Little Water Bear.

I celebrate Renata Buziak, the award winner, for her beautiful cyanotype, “Threshold Waters — Where Fresh Meets Salt” - and for her work more broadly to reconnect people with nature through art and science. My congratulations to you!

To inform my creation of paintings for the show, I explored a way of listening to water as a sentient being, aiming to de-centre the human-centric and Western-centric ways of listening. The process took me on a journey across history, culture, and relationships tied to the Kombumerri country upon which I live - which was once The Great Swamp. LMK if you want to hear more, I’d love to share.

Thank you to Nicola for taking this photo of us. Paul Harris, I was thinking of you in your absence!

I care deeply about the show’s aim to inspire environmental consciousness, community dialogue, and action towards a more sustainable and flourishing future for South East Queensland. So, it is an honour to have 5 of my artworks juried in alongside the work of 27 talented artists, across three venues. Big thanks to GC Creative Events for the opportunity, including Karleen's curatorial vision and nourishment.

(BTW the art in the show is for sale!)

While Aqua Limina has finished at Robina, the show continues at Hand Bent Banana and The HIVE Art Gallery… will I see you at the grand finale and people’s choice award this Friday?

Make a day of it and visit each of the three venues in ’ Aqua Limina Exhibition on Saturday and join us for the awards celebration at 2pm!

I would love to send you my (free!) Creative Living newsletter. Why?

☝🏽I’m on a mission to support people to step into their creative power - because I believe that creativity is the ultimate facilitator and sign of health in a community. My Creative Living newsletter is one way I help people - you - to reap the benefits of a creative life.

☝🏽I write my newsletters from the heart and with rigour, attentive to what my readers and the world are going through. I don’t use GenAI - so you can trust that you’ll be reading my words and hearing my voice.

✌🏽I love making and sharing art! Art is not a luxury or a guilty-pleasure; it is what makes us human… and the world needs original art now more than ever.

✌🏽I’d love to get to know you better. My emails are a way we can do that more thoughtfully (IMHO) than on social media - and you can avoid missing out because of an algorithm.

Take your time, enjoy reading at your own pace and let’s share this creative life.

To sign up, click the link in my bio or write the word “news” below and I’ll be in touch.
