Galactic Heart - Antennae Galaxies (NGC4038)

The Antennae Galaxies (also known as NGC 4038/NGC 4039 or Caldwell 60/Caldwell 61) are a pair of interacting galaxies discovered by William Herschel in 1785 in the constellation Corvus. They are undergoing a galactic collision. Located in the NGC 4038 group with five other galaxies, these two galaxies are known as the Antennae Galaxies because the two long tails of stars, gas and dust ejected from the galaxies as a result of the collision resemble an insect's antennae. The galaxies are currently going through a starburst phase, in which the collision of clouds of gas and dust, with entangled magnetic fields, causes rapid star formation.
The image had been taken using Celestron EdgeHD 8" telescope and dedicated cooled astronomy camera, ASI294MC Pro.

Quick fall reminder: clearing one shelf or one wall now makes the whole house easier to decorate once the holidays actually hit. What are you making room for this year?

Would "Moon in star field" make a good holiday conversation piece?

A quick interior note for the season: don't forget warmer textiles this month, like wool throws, wood tones, deeper colors, and striking monochromes.

What's your favorite fall item to display, or decor tip you live by?

Would "Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF)" fit your style?

October is historically the season of change. What changed for you this year? As we reflect on some art together this morning, I'd like to know.

Epiphanies, moves, whatever it may be.

And if you're looking to change up your space, you could consider today's feature, "Bubble Nebula (NGC7635)" or the other work in my online gallery.

It's getting darker earlier; it might be time for some of you to haul out the blankets. The world is moving a little slower than it did in summer before it speeds up for the holiday season.

Is your home and office cozy enough for the season ahead?

Check out "Rosette Nebula in Hubble palette" and the other artwork in my online gallery to find something that fits the way you approach the season.

Mass-produced decor fills a blank wall space, but artwork by an artist changes how a room feels to live in. As we enter cozy season, that vibrancy is important.

"North American Nebula (NGC 7000) Space Art Photo Print" comes from one working artist, not a warehouse. Have a closer look.
