I'M ON YOUR TEAM!
A poem by Adam TheBat

Let's stop pretending
we don’t see it

every outrage timed perfectly
every tragedy branded
every headline engineered
to make sure we fight sideways
instead of up

race against race
faith against faith
men against women
straight against q***r
left against right

while the same hands
count the money
lock the doors
and sell fear back to us
as protection

we argue statues
while wages disappear
we argue pronouns
while homes become investments
we argue morality
while corporations write the laws

events don’t need to be fake
to be exploited

pain is real
death is real
trauma is real

but watch how fast it’s packaged
how quickly it’s framed
how selectively it’s amplified

notice what you’re told to feel
before you’re told what happened

division is profitable
confusion is stabilizing
anger keeps us busy

busy fighting each other
instead of asking
why a handful of people
own the future

they don’t need us ignorant
just exhausted

they don’t need us evil
just distracted

so they pit identity against identity
belief against belief
turn survival into a culture war
and call it democracy

meanwhile
the greedy never miss a meal
the powerful never miss a vote
the architects never live in the ruins

and we’re told
this is just how it is

no
this is how it’s managed

but here’s the line they can’t afford us crossing

when we disagree
and still protect each other

when we argue theology
but refuse to let children starve

when we debate sexuality
but won’t let anyone be hunted

when we name trauma
without turning neighbors into enemies

because once we stop hating sideways
the whole game shakes

so yeah
we’ll clash
we’ll argue
we’ll offend each other

but i refuse to believe
my enemy is the person
standing next to me
trying to survive

I'm on your team

and i hope...
when it matters...
you’re on mine too.

🎙️ NEW EPISODE — THE TAPES

Now streaming on BlueBeach.tv and YouTube.

In this episode of The Tapes, host Alex Distefano sits down with Michael Cremo to examine archaeological evidence that challenges accepted timelines of human history.

This conversation isn’t about belief or persuasion — it’s about process.
How evidence is evaluated.
How narratives form.
And why some discoveries remain controversial.

Recorded at Blue Beach Studios.

🎬 Behind the Music: “Get a Life” — Built to Spill

Song: Get a Life
Artist: Built to Spill
Album: There’s Nothing Wrong with Love
Year: 1994
Label: Up Records

Band at the time:
• Doug Martsch -vocals, guitar, primary songwriter
• Brett Nelson – bass
• Ralf Youtz – drums

This record came out in 1994, right in the middle of a cultural shift.

Nirvana had already cracked the mainstream open. Grunge had gone from underground to unavoidable. Major labels were circling anything with distortion, while indie artists were deciding whether to chase the wave or stay rooted.

Built to Spill chose something else.

Instead of anger or spectacle, There’s Nothing Wrong with Love leaned inward. It was thoughtful, awkward, vulnerable—almost stubbornly human. “Get a Life” fits perfectly inside that moment.

The world then:
• Post–Cold War uncertainty
• Gen X navigating disillusionment without a clear enemy
• Corporate culture expanding, authenticity shrinking
• A growing sense of being told how life should look

“Get a life” was something people actually said—to friends, to slackers, to themselves. In this song, that phrase isn’t shouted. It’s examined.

Musically, the track reflects the era before indie rock became a formula:
• Loose tempos
• Guitars that feel conversational, not aggressive
• No studio gloss meant for radio

Doug Martsch’s songwriting at this time was about process, not polish. The band wasn’t trying to sound big. They were trying to sound true. That’s why the record still feels alive decades later.

At Blue Beach Studios, this is the lineage we honor.
Not trend-driven music but context-driven music.
Songs made by people reacting honestly to the world they’re living in.

Because culture doesn’t exist in a vacuum.
It’s shaped by its time and remembered when it tells the truth.

Culture Is Crucial.
And records like this remind us why.
