NEED TO BE COMEDY - our first-ever stand-up night at the Blue Beach Studio Social Club.
We built a clubhouse in Redondo Beach for people who still MAKE things - comedy, music, art, poetry, cinema. Not for the algorithm. For the room. This is night one. Somebody had to.
The lineup we somehow booked:
Bryan Burris (Bryan Burris) - 8,900 followers and a bio that literally says "mostly pictures of me telling jokes." The closest thing we have to a professional. Honored he is slumming it with us.
Gill / Gilbert Chris (Gilbert “Gill” Chris) - runs more podcasts (The Mindbuzz, Puro Laffs, On Our Guey) than you have unread group chats, AND does stand-up. The man does not sleep.
Ricky Novella (Ricky Novella) - three C's, fully committed. Amonos Podcast host, music on Spotify (allegedly). A multi-hyphenate menace.
Marcos Calandrelli (Marcos Calandrelli) - already runs his OWN ticketed show (Las Brisas) and is gracing our little room anyway. Certified. Tickets to his show are in his bio; tickets to ours are just showing up.
Jerry Hernandez (Jerry Hernandez) - your host. A writer, a self-described "guy from Downey," and a man whose handle means "Jerry is meh." Set expectations accordingly. This whole thing was his idea.
