Dearest Redmond family/community, this year has seen many challenges for us all, and especially for us small business owners! Many of you know I stepped away from teaching art to be able to be home to care with my daughter who struggles with epilepsy. Instead of giving up on having a small business during the pandemic, I was able to share my dream of having a great community art center by having Ms. Elsa take over. She has done an amazing job, and Dandelion Art continues to grow! Through this process, I have worked to transform Dandelion Art Center into a model to empower more women by providing an art curriculum that I can share. I want to help other women who love kids and creativity, and who want to work from home, or even wish to open their own studio, to also thrive with the Dandelion art business model. I want more women to have financial independence, business support, and a network of other women to work with. I offer support to other women who dream of being entrepreneurs. I also want to support people who experience disabilities, or what is better described as diverse-abilites. I worked at a local non-profit in Redmond called Opportunity Foundation, where we supported people with different abilities to work in inclusive jobs. During my time at Opportunity Foundation, I shared my own daughter's experiences with seizures and her dreams of being independent and having a choice in her work experiences. I want to expand upon that by having a team of people of diverse abilities to help us package and ship art kits to kids everywhere! My dream is working with community. It is uplifting others! When I see others succeed and grow, it inspires me. I ask you dear friends of Redmond to help me and others to keep rising. To keep going. I applied for a FedEx small business grant that will help us achieve this goal of empowering women, children and people of diverse abilities. I made a little video about this idea and I hope you will watch. Please vote for Dandelion. You can vote every 24 hours for the next couple of days until voting closes on March 24th. Did you know that at the end of each of our classes we allow time for students to lead? We provide the art supplies and a theme, and then encourage kids to make something using their imagination! Why? So kids learn to think for themselves, emowering them with skills to think outside the box. It's amazing that with some strips of paper you can make a beautiful 3-D spring flower! We love to see your creativity grow! Make your own unique spring flowers and share with us! 🌸

I'm the artist! 😆🎨 Sometimes you just have to stop overthinking and paint! I'm amazed when some of our little artists are more interested in the color the water turns when they rinse their brushes, than the actual painting they made! They are the ones who see beauty everywhere and who appreciate the process of making art, not only the final product they made. So let's all relax and mix it up a bit, make something you love with us at Dandelion Art Center!

These adorable cousins made scarecrows with eyes that look toward each other! We love having private classes with family or friends in the same social circle to help keep everyone safe and healthy as we navigate through COVID.
