Make It a Hot Kiln Summer! Summer Sessions Are Live
Summer is a great time to start something new, whether you are curious about clay for the first time or ready to build on skills you already have. Our six-week workshops offer a welcoming space to slow down, work with your hands, and create alongside others who enjoy making.
Each session is designed to guide you through the creative process while giving you room to experiment, build confidence, and develop your own style.
You’ll learn:
• Beginner-friendly techniques such as centering, shaping, trimming, and glazing
• Intermediate skills to refine forms, explore new ideas, and expand your creative approach
• Practical studio knowledge with guidance from experienced instructors in a supportive studio community
Featured Workshop: Surface Design
Explore a wide range of surface decoration techniques in a six-week ceramics course designed to help you bring more depth, intention, and personality to your work.
Each week, students will focus on a different approach to decorating ceramic surfaces, including slip trailing, sgraffito, inlay, water etching, underglaze transfers, screen printing for ceramics, and taping and resist glazing techniques. Alongside these hands-on methods, students will also explore foundational design principles such as color theory, composition, balance, and contrast to support stronger creative decision-making. All necessary materials, including slips, underglazes, and tools, are provided. Practice tiles, coasters, and simple forms such as slab plates and cups will be available throughout the six weeks for experimentation and skill-building.
Best suited for students with some wheel throwing or hand-building experience, the focus is primarily on surface decoration rather than form-building. Potters of any skill level are welcome to explore these techniques, though only minimal guidance will be provided on wheel throwing or hand-building.
