SUMMER 2026 PHOTO COMPETITION

The window for entering RCC's Summer Photo Competition remains open. Our competitions offer a great opportunity to have your images critiqued by expert photographers who can help you refine your craft. Images can represent one of six standard categories (Places, Animal, People, etc.) and one Category X, which this time is 'Americana'. Photographers submit themselves in one of two skill levels.

The window for entries closes on June 12. Follow instructions on the RCC website to prepare and upload your images: redlandscameraclub.org.

Bonne chance!

BUILDING EMOTION IN LANDSCAPE

On Monday, June 1, fine art nature photographer Andrew Hertel will explore how black and white photography can move beyond simple beauty and become a powerful tool for emotional expression.

This open presentation to Redlands Camera Club is designed for photographers who want their work to feel more intentional, personal, and emotionally resonant — whether they shoot in black and white, color, landscapes, wildlife, or everyday moments.

Rather than focusing on camera settings or rigid compositional rules, Hertel will discuss intent, connection, and the choices that help an image truly say something. Through a series of personal landscape and wildlife photographs, he will share how simplifying a scene, using light with purpose, embracing stillness, and editing with emotional clarity can transform a technically strong image into one that lingers with the viewer.

Attendees will leave with a new way of thinking about photography: not just as a way to record what a scene looks like, but as a way to express what it feels like to be there.

This free presentation of the Redlands Camera Club is open to the public and takes place at First Presbyterian Church in Redlands. Find parking and the entrance at 105 South Fourth Street. A social time will begin at 6:30pm with the program beginning at 7:00. The program will also be shared digitally via Zoom.
