Shasta SuperMoto Club Update... We finally have some positive movement!

The City has confirmed that our agreement amendment is currently with the attorney for final review. Once the amendment is approved and signed, and our insurance clears the City review system, Shasta SuperMoto Club will be cleared to operate again under our updated license agreement.

After a long road, we are preparing to move forward. Because of that, we will be holding a membership meeting:
Tuesday, May 12th
6:00 PM
Monroe Ranch

We are ready to begin collecting memberships again.
Memberships will now be annual from the date paid.

We will discuss:
Membership structure
Discussions on how to keep membership and race fees similar to past years
Donations to help families cover racing costs and to help offset increased insurance expenses
Practice days
Race weekends
Working Track Members and volunteer needs
Track preparation and cleanup
Golden State Championship support
Future goals for the club

This club has always been about grassroots racing, family, and community. We appreciate everyone who stood behind us during this process.

The gate isn’t open yet… but you can finally hear the bikes warming up again.

More updates coming soon.

Shasta SuperMoto Club Update

We’ve spoken with Hawk Mazzotta and want to be clear. Shasta SuperMoto Club supports the Golden State Championship Race Series. We’ve communicated that support directly and have told Hawk that, once our track access is finalized, we intend to work through the logistics to keep the June 6–7 date on our track.

There are still a few process items that need to be completed before anything can be formally confirmed. We’re encouraged by the progress being made and are optimistic about returning to our track soon.

Once access is confirmed, we’ll work directly with the promoters to finalize race details and share official information.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and continued support as we finish this last stretch. 🏁

Public Update from Shasta SuperMoto Club - Hi everyone, We want to share a clear and factual update on where things stand with the City regarding the airport track and what this means for Shasta SuperMoto Club.

Why This Is Happening
The City has indicated that it is transitioning the airport track from a license structure to a lease structure. The City has also stated that it is no longer pursuing a single master lease for the entire motorsports facility and is exploring options that would allow continued operation within existing track footprints.

Under the lease model described by the City:
• One group would lease the track footprint
• That group would carry insurance for the facility, not just individual events
• That group would be responsible for track operations

This direction reflects the City’s decisions related to insurance and facility management. It is not related to any cited safety issue, violation, or performance concern with Shasta SuperMoto Club. Our operating history and safety record remain unchanged.

Proposed Path Forward
Based on the City’s guidance that the track footprint cannot be leased to more than one group, both Shasta SuperMoto Club and Shasta Kart Klub evaluated options that could meet the City’s stated requirements while preserving existing programs.
This week, both clubs voted to pursue operational integration under the following framework:
• Shasta Kart Klub would serve as the single nonprofit leaseholder
• Governance would include equal representation from karting and SuperMoto
• The nonprofit would consider a name update reflecting karting, SuperMoto, and other lightweight motorsports

This approach was supported because it:
• Utilizes an established group with operating history
• Avoids delays associated with forming a new group
• Allows both clubs to retain their assets
• Allows Shasta SuperMoto to continue its off-site operations, merchandise, and assets
• Aligns with the City’s stated lease framework

Both clubs are currently working on governance and organizational documents. Any final structure is contingent upon the City clearly defining lease terms and insurance requirements.

Memberships and Race Fees
The City has indicated that rent will be based on fair market value following an FAA appraisal of approximately $2.25 million. Shasta SuperMoto Club and Shasta Kart Klub remain committed to keeping race fees as affordable as possible and will pursue fundraising and other opportunities to help offset increased rent and insurance costs.

Membership fees may require adjustment in the future. Any changes will be approached carefully, with a continued focus on affordability for our racers and the broader community.

What This Does and Does Not Mean
For clarity:
• This does not constitute a merger
• Shasta SuperMoto Club is not dissolving
• The club retains its name, branding, assets, and organizational identity
• Shasta SuperMoto Club retains the ability to operate and race at other locations

Insurance Considerations
The City has advised that existing policies insure club activity rather than the facility itself, and that this distinction affects lease requirements.

The City has asked that insurance options be explored under an operator-lease model. Insurance carriers have advised that they cannot provide quotes without the City first defining:
• Required liability limits
• Facility insurance structure
• Baseline coverage expectations

Once those requirements are clarified, we will be able to pursue quotes and evaluate feasibility.

Automobile Events
No decisions have been made regarding automobile activities such as drifting or autocross on the track. Those discussions are deferred until insurance requirements and coverage options are clearly defined.

What Happens Next
• The City continues its internal review process, with additional information expected at the February 17th City Council meeting
• Both clubs will continue coordinating on governance and organizational updates
• Once requirements are defined, insurance quotes will be pursued and next steps evaluated

We recognize this has been a long and challenging process. The positive takeaway is that a workable path forward is being discussed that aims to protect the track, preserve existing clubs, and allow motorsports activities to resume on a stable foundation.

Thank you for your patience, trust, and continued support. We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

This video documents what’s been happening at the kart and SuperMoto track our community built.

We support motorsports and believe shared facilities can work, but only when community-built tracks are protected and maintained for the sports they were designed for.

Community-built tracks deserve protection for the sports they were designed for.

Full context matters.

We support the dragstrip continuing to operate, and we are open to neutral management. What matters is that long-standing, independent programs are treated fairly.

This video shares clips, including what occurred before the City Council discussion, so the community can see the full context and decide for themselves.

Full City Council meeting footage is publicly available on the City of Redding YouTube page.

The City Council meeting went very well, and we truly felt heard.
For those who couldn’t attend, we’re sharing the full meeting here so you can watch and stay informed. (Fast forward to 4:30:24 to view our portion of the meeting.)

We do want to apologize to everyone who came out to support us but had to leave before our portion of the meeting. Our items were taken very late in the evening and the meeting ran until nearly 11:00 pm, which we know made it impossible for some people to stay.

I also want to share personally that I had to step away toward the end because my dog was left home and experienced a seizure. I’m grateful for everyone’s understanding and support.

Please know this: your presence mattered, whether you were able to stay or not. Your support was felt, and City Council heard the community loud and clear.

We are continuing to work with the City in good faith and will keep advocating for fair, consistent treatment of the clubs and the track our community built.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke, supported, and stood with us.

Community Update – Shasta SuperMoto & Shasta Kart Club Track
As many of you know, we’ve been working behind the scenes with the City regarding the future of the kart and SuperMoto track.
Our clubs operated for years under an evergreen agreement and, during discussions with the City, we were told we were grandfathered in. At one point, we ourselves proposed terminating our agreement only so we could transition under a master lease, with the understanding that our existing terms, schedules, and programs would remain unchanged and that other use of the track would be limited.

In prior City Council discussions, Council members expressed that they did not want to see long standing, community based clubs displaced or overrun by larger operators, and that any master lease structure should protect existing programs rather than replace them. That intent matters, because a master lease holder should be neutral, not a competitor.

What has occurred instead is that another operator has been allowed to use the track, plan expansions, and publicly announce new programs for the same discipline we built and operated, including bringing in a former SuperMoto club member to run our sport, while our club was excluded from planning and ultimately locked out.

n a recent public Facebook Live broadcast, Tony Trimp of Redding Motorsports Park stated that Redding Motorsports Park has not been able to meet the insurance structure requested by the City Attorney, including the higher per-occurrence and umbrella coverage levels, and that its insurer cannot currently write that policy. Despite this publicly acknowledged limitation, Redding Motorsports Park has continued operating and planning facility changes, while our club was ultimately locked out for not meeting the City’s insurance structure. Throughout our years of operation at the facility, we maintained the same insurance coverage that had been accepted by the City and that is widely recognized as industry-standard for motorsports operations.

In that same broadcast, Mr. Trimp stated that he is searching for individuals to operate karting activities and that Hawk Mazzotta would be running SuperMoto activities at the facility. These public statements reflect a shift from a neutral master lease concept to the announcement of new operators for disciplines long operated by existing, community based clubs and do not align with what was represented to us.

Tomorrow, January 20, 2026, we will be speaking at the City Council meeting starting at 6:00 PM to ask for fairness, consistency, and transparency before any long-term decisions are finalized. We are not asking for special treatment — only that commitments made during negotiations be honored and that long-standing programs be treated equitably.

If you are a rider, parent, volunteer, or community member who values grassroots motorsports, you are welcome to attend tomorrow’s City Council meeting and share your perspective. We respectfully ask that all comments remain calm, factual, and focused on protecting community programs and fair process.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this program and the families who helped build it.
