The Exchange Club of Redding donated more than $60,000 to community groups at a luncheon today at the Red Lion Hotel in Redding.
More than 100 were on hand as proceeds from the show went to more than 40 groups. Redding City Manager Kurt Starman was the guest speaker and helped hand out checks.
The donations went to groups that helped the Exchange Club put on the 2014 air show.
The show, which was held Sept. 27-28 at the Redding Municipal Airport, was headlined by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and CF F-18 demo team. It drew 20,000-22,000 fans.
The family-oriented, community service event now has generated nearly $1.1 million in donations. It also provides an economic boost to the community worth around $1 million each time it is held.
Groups receiving donation included: Anderson Exchange Club, Anderson High FFA, Blue Knights of California, Boy Scouts Troop 122, Boy Scouts Troop 37, Boy Scouts Troops 125, Boy Scouts Troop 42, CCC, CHP Explorers, CHP Senior Volunteers, Civil Air Patrol Squadron 126, Delta Lambda, EAA, Good News Rescue Mission, Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce, Kinship, Adoptive and Foster Parents Assn., Knights of Colombus, Make-A-Wish, Mistletoe Patriots, NorCal Hearing Impaired, NorCal RCA, Northern California Veterans Museum, CASA Incentive Fund, One Safe Place, P.E.O., Preceptor, Rat Pack, Redding Police Explorers, Redding Rancheria Community Fund, Redding SDA Church, Redding Swim Team, Riverfront Playhouse, Ronald McDonald House, Shasta Railroad Preservation, Shasta Wheelmen, Sheriff's Mountain Rescue, Sheriff's Mounted Posse, Simpson University Athletics, Sons of Italy, Soroptomists, HIV Food Bank, Sweet Adelines and University Prep Athletic Boosters.
