Our Read Around series continues this Sunday, October 11th from 3:30 to 5 at Riverfront Playhouse located at 1950 California Street.

A Read Around is an opportunity to experience one poet’s poems or poems that center around a particular theme. We’ll bring the poems and participants have the opportunity to read poems out loud. All participants need to do is show up, read if you are willing, and enjoy.

This Sunday we will meet immediately after North State Chronicles which begins at 2. Why not make an afternoon of it? Listen to or tell a story then read some poems chosen for their connection to the theme Día de los Mu***os (or possibly, Halloween). Hope to see you there!

Join us for a Rumi Read Around

A read around is a gathering where people have an opportunity to experience poems read out loud by participants. Poems are provided by the host and no previous experience with poetry is needed. Our next read around will be held Sunday, September 20th, at Bailey’s Book Nook, located at 1330 Market Street from 2 to 3:30 p.m. It will feature the works of Jalal al-Dīn Rumi, Sufi mystic and poet and will take place . Join us this Friday, September 4th at the Arts Council as we support and enjoy Red City's Zine workshop. The fun starts at 5:30. No previous experience necessary and it's free.

If you are a writer, other kind of artist or creative, reader, maker, or ideas you'd share to say in a cool, inexpensive way, this workshop is for you.

Hope to see you Thursday, August 27 at 7 p.m. at the Squire Room (21 and older) for a read around of poet Charles Bukowski's works. A read around is an opportunity for participants to read their favorite poem by the author or to pick up one of the poems brought by the host to read aloud. No experience necessary, just a willingness to experience poetry, out loud, with others.

We have so many events coming up! The next one is Wednesday, June 3rd at the Shasta County Arts Council stating at 7:30. No experience reading needed- come here this incredible poem live/out loud as it is meant to be experienced.

This event is presented by Words for All and is free and open to the public.
