I’d have to say that this sign was one of my most difficult pieces I’ve done. I kept getting lost in the nails and losing my spot where the lines were supposed to go. I wanted to tear out the string after each spot I’d string- not knowing if it was going to look right or if I was going to like it. That’s the battle of being a perfectionist and an artist. 😩😩
I think posting the stats of each sign I do from now on- it truly shows the time and effort I’m really putting into these signs. Here are the stats for this Chicago Bears sign…
This sign is about 11” wide and 12” tall.
It took me 1 hour and 5 minutes to mark all 658 nails that I hammered into this piece. That’s right, there’s 658 nails hammered into this board!!! (This is probably one of the longest “marking” times I’ve had- due to getting lost with where I wanted the nails to exactly go.)
It then took me 12 hours and 9 minutes to hammer in all those nails. (Again- probably one of my longest times hammering because the nails were so close to each other, especially in the right eye- that I was wondering if I was hammering the nail into the right spot every time I’d pick up a nail.)
And finally- it took me 10 hours and 2 minutes to string the whole piece. I was so worried the whole time that I was stringing it- that nothing was going to look right, I thought I was going to have to start all over again. But I stuck with it and trusted the process, and I’m sure glad I did.
All in all- this sign took me a little over 23 hours to make from start to finish… and again, that’s not including the time it took to sand and paint the board.
I might’ve lost a bit of hair, stressing over this sign- but it sure was worth it. And even though I have a strong disdain for the Bears, 😬😆 this is now one of my favorite signs I’ve made yet!! 🥰🥰
Thanks again to everyone who continues to support my small side hustle. I appreciate each and every one of you!! I’m super excited to get started on the upcoming signs I’ve been commissioned to make- so stay tuned… ❤️❤️
