The Carbon County Arts Guild was founded in 1973 by a group of ardent citizens desiring a higher quality of life through the Arts. The year 1983 marked a significant milestone for the Guild through the donation of the old Red Lodge train depot from the Burlington Northern Railroad. With this permanent residence and the hard work and dedication of many artists and art patrons, the non-profit organi
zation has grown into a cultural resource center for the region. The Depot Gallery hosts monthly exhibits and offers area visual artists the ability to display and sell their work, thereby forming a positive base for economic opportunity. Educational activities include a Student Art Camp, which serves students in grades one through five during the summer months and awards a yearly $1,000.00 student scholarship, classes for all ages and professional development classes in the visual, literary and performing art fields. The Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery is responsible for bringing annual activities and events to the community such as the Missoula Children's Theatre, Shakespeare in the Parks, Rocky Mountain Regional Juried Exhibition, Carbon County Student Show, Rural Rhythms Concert Series, Montana Repertory Theatre, Labor Day Arts and Crafts Fair, Annual "Art in the Beartooths" and Stillwater Society Exhibit. We strive to meet our mission to support, inspire and encourage all artists.
