The Bay Tree Council for the Performing Arts is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors comprised of arts advocates who share a common passion for theater and a commitment to the community. The board also serves as a champion of the theater arts in the Red Bay area. It is dedicated to raising the profile of theater and igniting interest in the theater among the community’s youth.

The brochure for membership, patron and sponsors will go out this week. We have a great lineup of productions for the 2026-2027 season. This will be our 30th Year! The Odd Couple will be the first production in November and in honor of our 30th Season, this will be the THIRD time we have produced this one! Make your plans now if you're working with groups, please put these on your calendar. Thanks to Ace Christy Glasgow at Ace Printing for the design of the brochure!

The Bay Tree Council for the Performing Arts in Red Bay, AL announces auditions for it’s first production of the 2026-2027 season, The Odd Couple, by Neil Simon and directed by Mark Richardson. Auditions will be held Sunday September 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM and Monday September 21 at 7:00 PM at the Weatherford Center in Red Bay, AL. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the book. The production dates are Tuesday November 10 and Thursday November 12-15, 2026. The cast consists of 6 adult men and two adult women. This classic comedy opens on a friendly card game in the untidy apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it’s no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Ungar, who has just been separated from his wife. Fastidious, depressed, and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds, Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together. The action unfolds with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born.

Announcing the 2026-2027 Season!

First production: The Odd Couple by Neil Simon and directed by Mark Richardson. Performance dates are November 10th and November 12-14, 2026, at 7:00 PM and Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Auditions in September.

Second production: Daddy’s Dying Who’s Got the Will by Del Shores and directed by Brittany and Eric Faris. Performance dates will be February 9th and February 11-13, 2027, at 7:00 PM and Sunday, February 14, 2027, at 2:00 PM. Dinner will be served Thursday through Sunday.

Rex’s Exes by Jones, Hope, and Wooten and directed by Scotty Kennedy. Performance dates are April 20th and April 22-24, 2027, at 7:00 PM and Sunday, April 25, 2027, at 2:00 PM.

The BTCPA board of directors met last night and elected new board members: Paul Williams, Matt Hester, Nicholas Stepp, Mary-Elizabeth Moore, Jeanette Pearson and Austin Henderson. Those rotating off are Mark Richardson, Sharon Strickland, Brenda Cardenas, Theron Struzik and Britany Faris. We thank them all for their hard work and dedication through the last three years! Also, the winner of the 500.00 scholarship sponsored by the BTCPA was Bryer Mayo of Belmont. He is currently enrolled at Northeast Community Colley in Booneville, MS and will transfer to UNA to receive his BS in Secondary Education and them eventually attend Seminary School. He is also the grandson of BTCPA board member and actor Jeri Mayo. This is the 14th scholarship that the BTCPA has given away in the last few years.

The Red Velvet Cake War was our last production of the 2025-2026 season, and it ended with a BANG with this play! The audiences were large and loved it by their laughter and kind words afterwards! The cast and crew did an amazing job, many told us it was one of the best and funniest, if not THE best! We will be working on our next season, so stay tuned!

Again, the performance Saturday was great and the audience was wonderful! We do appreciate all the laughter, roaring at times, and your kind remarks to us afterwards. One more performance today Sunday at 2:00 PM. Some tickets will be available at the door.

Only two more performances left for The Red Velvet Cake War, tonight Saturday at 7:00 PM and tomorrow Sunday at 2:00 PM. Some tickets will be available at the door. The audiences so far have loved it, they didn't just laugh they roared!! Many have said it one of the best we've ever done, if not THE best or funniest!

Opening night for The Red Velvet Cake War was a huge success! The audience didn't just laugh, they roared all the way through it! So many members of the audience told us afterwards it was one of if not the funniest, we've ever done! Tickets will be available at the door or reserve them by calling 256-998-6781 between 2-4 or leave a message at other times.
