It really was The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! The Herdmans learned the true meaning of Christmas - and so did a few others who seemed to have forgotten along the way. Thank you for joining Rainbow Readers on BCTV for our Christmas in July presentation of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Talking about underwear? Throwing flower pots? Smoking in the ladies’ room? It seems like the Herdmans really are just the worst and even Reverend Hopkins suggests calling the whole thing off in case no one comes to see it. But Grace refuses to call off the pageant saying this will be the Best Christmas Pageant ever. And let’s hope so - since EVERYBODY came to see what the Herdmans would do. As Beth and her mother continue rehearsals for the pageant, the Herdmans are fighting just as much as ever. Gladys is drinking the grape juice for communion and Imogene wants to steal a baby to play Jesus. Can things really get any worse? The Herdmans have finally heard the WHOLE Christmas story - the wise men, the shepherds, the innkeeper, and even Herod who’s out to get the baby Jesus. It’s like something out of an adventure story or comic book and the Herdmans are left arguing about just what they SHOULD have done to that innkeeper. The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, steal, smoke ci**rs, swear, and hit little kids. So no one is prepared when this outlaw family invades church one Sunday and decides to take over the annual Christmas pageant.
