A note to my Aftershock family and friends,
21 years! I remember year one. How was I going to open a business so young? So many unknowns. I took the leap. My parents taught me everything about owning a business. The most important lesson I have ever learned was to connect with people. What I wasn't prepared for was how rewarding it would be to see dancers enter my studio at the age of 3 and then see them graduate. Their first time on stage until their last time onstage.
Owning a dance studio is a 24 hour job seven days a week. Why? I absolutely love to see the dancers grow and see their parents smile at recital. It is absolutely worth every stressful day. Yesterday, was recital. This one hit different. It was just absolutely perfect. Every year is special. The dancers were so encouraging to one another, the parents supportive and helpful, the smile on grandparents faces, the alumni, the volunteers. It was just perfect. Families from the past in the audience, it became full circle. The talent of these kids blew me away!!! I guess during the year we are so focused on teaching we don't have the opportunity until recital to see it all come together.
My teachers, absolutely the best. They can't ever be replaced. So talented, creative, most importantly, my friends.
So why Aftershock?
It's home.
