This is inspiring news for the Continental Divide Trail Coalition, Gateway Communities, CDT Ambassadors, and CDT Committees! We are beyond excited to see this act's future and the CDT's future for decades to come!
Today is a day for the entire CDT trail community to celebrate! 🎉 Senator Martin Heinrich (New Mexico) and Senator Steve Daines (Montana) have introduced the bipartisan Continental Divide Trail Completion Act today, which aims to complete the entirety of the 3,100 mile trail by the trail’s 50th anniversary in 2028.
“As the Continental Divide Trail Coalition enters its second decade of stewardship of the CDT, we could not be more grateful for the leadership of members of Congress in recognizing this important piece of the CDT Experience. Despite the many challenges we face in current times and many differing opinions on the solutions, this legislation demonstrates that along the Divide, the CDT is a common ground that has the ability to unify and inspire a shared vision for the future.” — Teresa Martinez, Executive Director of CDTC
