Black Hills Hunger Fest makes its debut Saturday at 707 Sports Bar & Nightlife , bringing Whitney Peyton, Kung Fu Vampire, and more than a dozen regional artists together for a night of live hip-hop with a purpose.
Instead of asking for a donation at the door, organizers are encouraging concertgoers to bring canned food and school supplies for the Pine Ridge Reservation. Every donation earns raffle entries for hourly prizes, including a TV giveaway.
We caught up with organizer -rit to learn how an early-2000s benefit concert inspired Hunger Fest, why Hood Ninja Entertainment wraps a cause around every event, and what he hopes this first festival becomes in the years ahead.
