Everyone gave it 👍👍 and the bonus was seeing several of our Flutter cohorts in the cast! There’s only two weekends to see this show – don’t miss it!

What do we do when we’re not in production? Classes! A day of classes at Flutter Productions is broken into two parts. The first part of the day we focus on creative writing and or design the second half of the day we focus on acting, creative movement, and/or dance. Right now we are reviewing our basic shapes to help us build drawing skills which are needed for design. This gives us an opportunity to work on our dexterity, fine motor skills, observation skills, shape and color recognition, and our memory skills. In reviewing the rectangle and square, we also looked at world famous artist Piet Mondrian and attempted to emulate his style.

What do we do when we are not in production? Flutter holds classes that focus on creative writing, design, acting, creative movement, and dance for individuals served by Black Hills Works . Right now we are focusing on design by reviewing basic shapes and how we find those basic shapes in nature. A few weeks ago, we did a study on the oval. We learned how the pair is very similar to the shape of an oval. We then worked on our watercolor painting techniques, focusing on creating highlights, shadows, and texture in our work to create dimension. Whether you are designing a costume, makeup design, or a set design, drawing and painting are much needed skills in the theatre.

Focus was deep and intense during our first week of classes as we worked on drawing self portraits. This year we are working on improving our observation and drawing skills both needed for theatrical tool boxes.
