Yesterday I found myself in a very weird and rare situation: I was home alone with my 10-month old and DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH HER. As a play cafe owner, you can imagine this doesn’t happen often 😂

But if this sounds like you: you get toward the end of the day, somewhere between last nap and bedtime - it’s too hot to go outside and you’ve done all the indoor activities…we got you!

Baby Hour is every Friday at 5pm and tonight’s session will be a good one. Allie will be going through early sign language for babies!

No pressure, no judgement. Just fat little sausage fingers playing and learning sign language together. Grab a drink, a snack, and meet other parents (during what is sometimes a tough time of day for babies!)

Designed specifically for our sweetest tiny creators under 12 months, this session will teach you basic, foundational ASL that you can seamlessly weave into your daily routines. Through hands-on play, gentle songs, and beautiful stories, you'll discover how to set a brilliant foundation for communication that will transform your journey into toddlerhood.

Hey everyone! Just a quick reminder to adjust your calendars for this week's toddler session: We are moving from our usual Wednesday slot to Thursday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m.! Grab your coffee at the cafe, get those busy little hands ready, and join us on Thursday morning at Wild and Wonderful Play Cafe for a truly special theme: Early Communication & American Sign Language (ASL)! 🤟👶

Toddlers have so much to tell us, even before their vocal cords catch up to their big thoughts. This week, we are bridging that gap by learning basic Toddler ASL through:

📚 Stories: Playful, repetitive tales featuring intuitive signs.
🏃‍♂️ Active Play: Full-body movement to get the wiggles out while practicing our signs.
🎨 Process Art: Creative, textured art exploration designed for sensory development and pure self-expression!

We're focusing entirely on the power of early communication, giving our littlest creators a beautiful tool to express themselves and connect with you.

When: Thursday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m.

Cost: $10 per child for Storytime and Art exploration.

Hey everyone! We have a quick schedule tweak for this week: Toddler Time is moving from Wednesday at 10 AM to Thursday at 10 AM! Adjust those calendars—we can’t wait to see your busy little ones on Thursday morning! 🗓️✨

This week is incredibly special because it is officially LAUNCH WEEK for our Books & Brushes creative workshop series for ages 6–10—perfectly timed to coincide with the brand-new Big Kid Hours at the Wild and Wonderful Play Cafe 🥳✨ There is a post coming a little later today with all the details!

Across all our offerings this week, we are diving into inclusivity and the beautiful world of American Sign Language (ASL):

👶 Baby Hour: We’re exploring how tiny hands can communicate before words even form, sharing foundational signs to help babies express their everyday needs and connect with caregivers, creating a foundation for early communication skills!

👧 Toddler Time (NOW ON THURSDAY AT 10 AM!): We're keeping those busy hands moving by pairing playful animal signs with sensory, textured art to bridge the gap between big thoughts and early speech.

👦 Big Kids Workshop (Ages 6–10): We aren't just reading books—we are exploring ASL as a rich, contemporary visual art. We’ll be turning up the music, feeling the rhythm, and using a "magic reveal" white glue-resist technique to paint the actual physical waves of sound! It’s messy, it’s abstract, and it’s pure creative freedom.

From our tiniest babies bridging the communication gap, to our big kids expressing themselves, we are celebrating how hands can speak, stories can move, and art can connect us all.

Hey snack queens and kings! We have an update to our Build-Your-Own snack boxes:

We're going seasonal!

Each week we'll roll out a curated snack box featuring seasonal fruits and veggies (locally grown where we can find them!) to keep our boxes healthier and more responsible.

In-season produce = maximum nutritional value and better flavor! This also helps us to reduce wasting food that goes bad.

This week is strawberries, sugar snap peas, crackers and sliced chicken (YUM). Don't like something on the menu? Replace one item for a snack on our convenient shelf. (Just ask your toddler where it is...they know 😉 )

This week at Wild and Wonderful...

We've got something for every age this week!

Big Kid story time (ages 6-10) on Wednesday at 2pm.
Toddler story time (ages 1-5) on Thursday at 10am.
Wilder Yoga (ages 2-10) on Friday at 10am.
Baby Hour (12 months and under) on Friday at 5pm.

Each activity includes a 2-hour play session before, during or after.

In addition, we're trying something new with Big Kid Hours from 2-4pm on Wednesday. Bring in your school-age kiddos for some imaginative play and good vibes out of the house. This age plays best with friends, so plan your play date with us. (if you bring more than 10 kids, give us a call for a group discount!)

We are closed all weekend for some amaaaaazing celebrations (including a baby shower! Yes, we do those!)

We're so excited to welcome a new baker to our fam: Merrick Mama Bakes!

Nicole takes a spin on the classic nostalgic snacks to make them wholesome with no processed ingredients.

She BLESSED us with a sample box last week showcasing what she could do with an oatmeal cream pie, a tw***ie, cosmic brownies and a honey bun. (Fun fact, every night after Redskins Cheer practice I would stop at the same CVS and get a cosmic brownie to top off my night 😋 Knowing hers are made without all the processing and chemicals from a factory makes it even sweeter!)

This week has been such a blessing for Merrick Mama Bakes. Yesterday I shared our first local partnership and today I’m so excited to announce you’ll also be able to find Merrick Mama Bakes treats at Wild & Wonderful Play Cafe in Ranson, WV! 🌿✨
