So I’m not sure if everybody is aware of what exactly is going on in the digital photography and AI realm, but I am not exactly going to jail that much into that, but I am here to explain exactly what’s gonna happen to my social media and my business.
Recently a court ruling was found in favor of protecting the first amendment and free speech, which includes certain graphic, digital material involving minors. Let me say that again: if you possess certain explicit material with subjects younger than 18 that were artificially generated then you are protected by law.
I’m not sure if you understand the gravity of this, but I’m here to tell you that if they protect that and we know for a fact that images like that are being distributed, generated or otherwise… then posting your child on social media and then creating those same images with your child’s face is not a stretch. Recent videos show that these same very platforms are using scary. Tactics with minors and children to obtain very personal data. That is absolutely irrelevant to the point of social media or why it was intended for.
Here’s another point: have you ever wondered why it’s free? What is the actual cost that we are paying for all of these amazing services that make our lives so much better? I think we might be finding that out now.
Even in recent years when we started having to add this specific question, “ do you mind if we use these photos for social media?” is a huge red flag. We all missed it. But it’s OK because the secret and the answer is to do better and to do things differently.
All that to say: I will no longer be posting children or families, I will also be removing our content from all of my social media and starting over from scratch with a curated and carefully constructed platform. My new website will have a secure encrypted and password login to access family style portfolio, or session details. This service will also cost $25 to book your session and also serves as a consultation and to make sure that I will be a good fit for your family. Although no complaints yet… well maybe one, but don’t tell anybody!!! this fee will also go towards your photo session should you end up booking your session, however, it is nonrefundable if you do not decide to, for whatever reason.
